The newest Kawasaki H2 rocketship ehh I mean motorcycle apparently has “self healing” paint that when scratched will fix itself when heat is applied. Interesting stuff from Kawasaki, I wonder if it actually works. They also added 30hp because the H2 was a bit down on power. Big Grin

Toyota needs to consider this tech (if it actually works). My Tacoma and Sienna both have VERY thin paint jobs and are easy to scratch.

This tech has been around a while. Its used in Japan on some models sold in Asia. Its has pros but also has some cons. One con is that its soft, you are better off making clearcoat that wont scratch in the first place.

The problem with your Tacoma and Sienna is bad clearcoat and probably not enough of it on top of being weak. But keep in mind many OEM paint layers are about the thickness of a human hair

That's cool!

I may trade my Versys x300 in for an H2 now. Big Grin

Love the comment.

"Love the last line in this article. I agreed, 231 hp..light scuff protection is probably not my highest priority."
