If you haven't stopped supporting these ungrateful, overpaid, spoiled brats maybe now is the time to consider doing so.

NFL opening weekend sees more Star-Spangled Banner protests.

It has been DECADES since I last gave a crap about professional sports in general. This is only the latest reminder of why.

Queue the thousands of apologists, including many here, who will argue that it's OK because whichever team/player is their current man-crush "isn't like that" or that the visible douchenozzles are somehow outliers.

Fuck the NFL. I won't watch a game this season. (And it's not because the Colts absolutely suck). I won't watch a game until that meat head, high functioning autistic fuck otherwise known as Roger Goodell gets shit canned. He is ruining the NFL.

Read the comments... the NFL and the offending athletes have little support on this one. But that's right, keep pissing everyone off and rubbing our faces in it. That will surely win us over.

I really need to cut the cord. I pay for these jerkwads with my cable bill whether I watch them or not.

What tangible effect have comments produced? The fact that the NFL allows these antics shows that the impact on their profits is negligible. Ergo, plenty of Americans are A-OK with supporting said antics with their pesos.

Note that you are perfectly within your rights to spend your entertainment dollars as you see fit.

I think the initial shock of the whole thing has worn off for most people. No one cares and no one is paying it any mind which is the proper way to go about this. These players are just like little kids looking for attention.

Not just stop watching the ungrateful, over paid, fuck sticks, but do not buy anything that has to do with the NFL.

No NFL merchandise. No NFL sponsored products, if your favorite beer is the "official beer" of the NFL. STOP buying it and contact the maker and tell them why. Your favorite tampon or douche is the "official tampon" of the NFL. STOP buying it and tell them why.

If all things connected to the NFL was shunned. Then the Revenues dry up, not just for the NFL, but all the sponsors, the sponsors that pay the NFL will pull their money and the people that get money from the NFL will shun it because the impact of the regular Joe not buying their products wouldn't make up for the gain of taking the NFL's money.

So if you were to impact the NFL's money, where there was no profit and make the NFL's money not worth anything. It will change.

Just think of it like this. You are anyone pizza. The NFL as a promotion comes to you and offers for you money, to be an "official NFL pizza" and you with that money are to print boxes with "game codes" or whatever, but now no one buys your stinking "official NFL pizza". What would you do? How would you feel if YOU, as anyone pizza is now going bankrupt because of the stupid shit from the NFL?

You, as a member of SIG forum not just boycott all things NFL. Tell your like minded friends and family. Explain why they should do so.

Then, maybe then if enough people turn the NFL into a hot potato, then it will either change or die out completely. Either way, no more ungrateful, over paid fuck sticks making money, and no more ungrateful over paid fuck sticks on TV anymore for kids to see disrespect the flag and the nation.

I don't think the NFL offers money to any one. The money flows the other way. Anyone Pizza pays the NFL to agree to permit NFL connections in the box. So does Bud Lite.

When you have businesses lining up to be allowed to spend untold millions for a video for a 30 second time slot that will cost them another few million, it is going to be very hard to shut it off.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Seems that is even better. Anyone Pizza sees the NFL losing its value so AP chooses to spend less or elsewhere on its own. Still slim chances any financial hit gets far unless there is a significantly greater level of fan disgust. That could come from the players and corporate reaction. It's a 'we'll see' kind of deal.

What does that have to do with this?

And it isn't true anyway. They are paid a market price. Back to Microeconomics 101.

IMHO... Any NFL player that sits for the National Anthem tonight (9/11) should be escorted out by fans and told not to come back.

It's all about the money.
It's why the owner bought the team. It's not for the "love of the game". They don't just want to make a profit, they want to maximize their investment.

It's the same for the players, of course, at least for most of them. They know that the average NFL career is very short and the risk of injury significant. They want to maximize their income because they have a particular skill set that is in demand and won't last for very long. Most of them will stand for the National Anthem, most out of respect for the country, but many just because they realize the NFL is a business and associating the league with the country and with patriotism is good for business.

Is it greedy? Of course it is!

When the greed becomes too obvious, when the motivations are layed bare, the "game" becomes a little less entertaining. When it loses some of it's entertainment value, that's when people will step away and choose to spend their money elsewhere.

That's where a lot of people are with this.... fed up and no longer willing to support it. But no one forced them to in the first place.

I was at the Dodgers game yesterday in LA. I was in side eating lunch when the screens started showing the national anthem being played.

Everyone in the place stopped talking, stood up from their tables and faced the screens showing the flag.

Until the NFL realizes this is their audience, they are going to continue to lose market share.

You buy / own a business to make money .It's not greed , it's Capitalism .

Many years ago, I had occasion to have lunch several times with a fellow who is in the NFL Hall of Fame, retired in fame and glory after a dozen years of superlative play.

John Jefferson had just left the Chargers, at near the height of Air Coryell, ending up at Green Bay. I remarked how sorry he would be while his buddies from the Chargers were flaunting their Super Bowl rings and JJ had missed out.

My companion disagreed, saying that they don't care much about that stuff. It's the money that counts. The NFL is a meat market, he said. As long as you can help make them money, you are lauded, publicized, celebrated. Otherwise, who?

Of course, as it turned out, none of the Chargers need have worried.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Yes, of course.... Capitalism.

But in the context of Capitalism isn't a little greed a good thing? The two are not mutually exclusive.

“Capitalism is a social system based on the recognition of individual rights, including property rights, in which all property is privately owned. The recognition of individual rights entails the banishment of physical force from human relationships: basically, rights can be violated only by means of force. In a capitalist society, no man or group may initiate the use of physical force against others. The only function of the government, in such a society, is the task of protecting man’s rights, i.e., the task of protecting him from physical force; the government acts as the agent of man’s right of self-defense, and may use force only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use; thus the government is the means of placing the retaliatory use of force under objective control.” — AYN RAND

Capitalism is a social system based on the principle of individual rights.

Politically, it is the system of laissez-faire (freedom).

Legally it is a system of objective laws (rule of law as opposed to rule of man).

Economically, when such freedom is applied to the sphere of production its result is the free-market.

Under capitalism the state is separated from economics (production and trade).
