Confirming it does not need to be shipped, but does need to go through an FFL. Unless she wants to wait until you die-inheritance is an exception.
I suggest using GunBroker's "Find an FFL". Here's a link:
https://support.gunbroker.com/...-Dealer-in-Your-AreaConfirm by telephone before going in, but you should easily find someone who understands what you need to do. Or at least someone who will take your money for what they think you just want to do.

Nope. You can hand the firearm to an FFL.
Yup, see
HERE. Can transfer directly to the FFL in the state of the receiver’s residence. Says nothing about shipping requirement.

WolfpackerSo if my son and I both live in North Carolina does this apply to gifts? I have lost count of the guns that I have purchased and given to him over the years.
Thank you for any replies.

BATFE does not require FFL involvement for private transfer between residents of the same state.

Thank you for the quick reply V-Tail. I figured that I would eventually be in trouble otherwise.

12131^^^^ Federal law doesn’t, as V-Tail mentioned, and the state of NC doesn’t, but a bunch of commie states, not surprisingly, require you to go through FFL even for buying/selling firearms between in-state residents.

Strangely, at least one Commie state, while requiring all private party transactions go through an FFL, does not require an FFL to be involved in an interfamilial transfer. Make the gift, fill out a form, send the form along with $19 (regardless of the number of guns) to the CA DOJ so they can keep their unconstitutional registry current, and drive on. Sheesh.

12131“Sheesh” is right. They got you, one way or the other.

mark123I don’t feel shipping it makes sense. It’s a $325 Glock 43. It makes more sense to just send her some money and let her pick one out.

VoshterkoffYou, your daughter, and the handgun were all in the same place? I would just hand it to her.

His daughter is a SC resident. He’s from PA. Doesn’t matter if they happen to be in the same place. Gifting is irrelevant. It’s the exact same thing as going across state line and do a FTF sale w/o FFL involvement. It’s illegal.

ArtieSWrite a letter.
Dear daughter:
I am leaving my SIG 229 in your care and custody so that I might use it when I visit. Please feel free to use it as you see fit in my absence.
Love,
Me
Now. You must make sure this isn’t a further violation. It would be for me with my kids in the fascist state of Massachusetts.

ruger357I’m pretty sure you gave your daughter that gun when she temporarily moved back to PA.
