I know some other foruns have stolen gun threads is there one here. I live in Indiana and Im hoping dealers look at stolen gun threads to catch a thief committing a felony by trading it in.
Any dealers want serial numbers let me know. I know who stole it too.

You might try the Classifieds section.

Assuming you placed a report with the police, the serial number will be checked when it comes into a gun store.

Usually stolen guns don’t go to gun stores, though.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

Ive been checking those over too. I knew as I saw that persons life was a wreck that theft was a possibility and it eventually happened. I was too trusting but theft is always wrong.

So do you have proof positive who stole it. The authorities would be interested in an arrest of a person in possession of a stolen hand gun.

Have you reported it stolen and provided them with the details of the theft?

Stolen guns rarely get sold to people who don't know they are stolen. It is a liability to sell a stolen gun to a person who thinks it is not stolen. They will trade it for $50 to $100 of heroin or some other kind of drug and the dealer will sell it for $200 to $300 to some goon.

If the goon gets caught with it he will say he found it. A possession of stolen gun charge is meh compared to what the goon is willing to do with it.

Call me crazy, but you're working with the local police, right?
You know who stole your gun, have them arrested. Let them do what they do, and find out where the gun went.

Chongosurte, how is the LGS gonna run those numbers? They do not have access to NCIC.

Sorry, this does not pass the smell test.

As a new member I think you could of come up with a better way to come to be part of this community.

Sorry if this sounds harsh. But somethings just don't add up.

If you own the gun. Report it stolen. The police recover it and arrest them. It does not matter what they say.

Something doesn’t sound right here, if your gun is or was stolen make a police report, even better if you have some awareness of the perpetrator. With three posts in your profile do you think gun thieves are posting in the classified section here? If you haven’t reported to Law Enforcement my question is why haven’t you?

I'm leaning with ORC and spunk on this. If the perp comes in he may see this thread, also.

And did you just get the X5 and just now register?

Smell test.

What, then, is the difficulty?

You report it stolen. Cops confront him and he claims you “loaned” it. You have “incriminating” text messages? Show them to the police.

Also, notwithstanding any claim of a loan, you just say the “loan” is over and you want it back. If he doeasn’t promptly return it, that’s theft.

I don’t know what the law says about this, but I think its generally a bad idea to loan someone a gun. What if they are legally prohibited from possessing a gun?

Not a family member but someone I really trusted. The borrowed it ploy wont work due to text messages I believe.

I really dont want this persons life ruined because of the situation with kids and all but I just really cant stand lying and stealing. At some point you have to face the music for the person you have became.

I promise ill contribute to the community here and sorry Im OP on this topic as my first post. I have mucho Sig experience and losing a gun to a willfully dishonest person is burning my ass. The bottom line is worst case its a $900 lesson that if they lie to others they will certainly lie to you.
