Shower Head question.
I have this as a shower head thing in a bath. It’s basically reverse of what is normal today.

Does anyone make an adaptor for this? And where would I buy one so I can use a normal shower attachment

Looks like part of a shower head is threaded onto the shower arm. The shower arm is threaded into a shower elle inside the wall.

You can buy a new shower head, like that one and install it in a few minutes with two pairs of Channellocks and some pipe dope or tape. The thing on the end of the angled piece of pipe will unscrew from the pipe.

If you can't get that remaining part off the end of the bent pipe leading into the wall (the "arm"), then the arm can be unscrewed and replaced with a new arm if needed.

You can get a new shower head pipe for $10 at DeepHomo.

Big Grin

One day while standing behind the Dick's Sporting Goods gun counter circa 1997 I had an irate Indian man ask me at least half a dozen times if I knew where the Home De-pot was. It was of course right next door in the same plaza. I still read the sign and pronounce it in my head that way. Home De-pot.

To the OP, that ball joint should unscrew from the pipe with a wrench on the pipe, and channel locks on the bonnet.

Looks like the pipe out of the wall attached around where the bend is with pipe thread but it's hard to see here because of the white hanger.
A side shot would also be helpful to see with the hanger removed.

Yeah, replace the nipple.

Pull the escushion cover down and peek behind the wall. Score around it first with a razor knife to break the paint. The shower head arm most likely is threaded in and "should be" an easy swap with a new one.

Probably quicker and easier to unscrew the whole thing, toss it, and put in a new arm. They’re not expensive and it’s a simple job.

^^^This. And if you suffer from "Bashed forehead syndrome" from your shower head like I did in our home, you can replace that nipple with one of these and buy yourself some height in the shower head. https://www.homedepot.com/p/MO...AC42SH82-A/305086092

What's inside the wall *should* look like this:

You can get a replacement shower arm and just screw it in. Since I'm 6'2", I can look down on most shower heads. I like these:

Sorry to get back so late on this. This house was built in the late 50's I have no idea if the shower arm is one piece or two, I do not want to cut the ball off.

The 'ball' is one end of an old shower head assembly, like one half of a union. Finding a match would be problematic. A plumber will 'hold back' on the shower arm with one par of pliers, and spin the shower head remnant off with another set of pliers ***.
