Columbian Vise Advice
I recently picked up an old Made In USA Columbian Vise. It has 6" jaws and is a model D46. It is in generally pretty good shape other than the screws that hold the jaw plates in the jaws. The are a standard thread size 5/16 X18 but the head is countersunk differently than any screws I've been able to find. Hopefully somebody here can point me in the right direction.

You could put a screw in a drill and then take a small file like a #2 and spin it to match the angle/taper. Get a protractor out if you really care.

Google fu shows replacement jaws with new allen bolts as available..

Link

You could drill out exiting jaws, or have a machine shop do it, and replace the bolts with new allen heads that would sit flush.

^^^ Your GoogleFu via eBay is strong!

Those replacement jaws also look cool as well, but getting the old bolts out and threaded correctly might be a trip. Might be fine too!

I should ask you Fellers to find me a X5 all around… Lol

Those jaws listed on Zoro are not quite the same size as the jaws on my vice, but the screws might work. I contacted the company to see if just the screws are available.
That Ebay listing looks to be the screws I'm looking for although rather expensive.
Thank you guys for your help.

I would try to find those screws if possible. The taper is probably that way to help locate the jaws better than a shallower taper.

My local Ace hardware has a wide variety of fasteners. I’ve been able to find various firearm screws and fasteners I needed that I couldn’t find anywhere else locally.

This is what I did with my USA made Wilton vise. I also made additional jaw sets out of brass, copper, aluminum, wood, and UHMW. You can get 1/2" x 3/4" bar stock in most metals at McMaster-Carr. Just cut it to length, and drill the holes. I always make the clearance hole a tiny bit larger, to make it easier to insert the screws. Once they are locked down, there is no play.
