I’m used to that anyway as I was doing 6,000 mile changes with my Mazda since it was so old and high miles, I figured it was cheap insurance, owners manual said 7,500 miles.

So last night was crappy cold rainy foggy weather but this thing feels SO stable and connected to the road like it's a tank with treads and not a car with wheels. Made me realize just how bad that old Mazda really was with the slipping and spinning I'd do in that kind of weather if I did not drive super old man slow in it.

I think the heated steering wheel is my favorite thing so far.

When we lived up in Maryland in the hills my wife would always insist on taking the Subaru when it got iffy. She has a very nice AWD Toyota Highlander, great vehicle, but she felt safer in the slick with the Subaru. I don’t blame her. Subarus are little Billy goats in the snow.

I always laugh when somebody says their fill in the blank with snow tires is just as good. Ok, maybe, but if you put snow tires on a Subaru it’s nearly impossible to beat in the slick. I thought about doing so at one time but it was so sure footed with OEM and aftermarket that I never bothered.

My next Subaru was probably going to be the 260hp Outback but I don’t like the new SUV like styling. I liked the sports wagon bits.

Great choice, for the last 5 years my vehicles have been Subaru. An 17 Outback and a 17 Forester.

Last month a teen pulled out infront of my wife. Totaled the Forester but it saved serious injury to my wife. All airbags went off except the passenger dash and the passenger seat. The Forester had 100,000 miles the teen’s insurance has taken full responsibility and has been good so far in handling the medical bills and car.
We opted to replace that car with another 2025 Forester.

It is true keep your oil intervals for oil changes between 5,000 and 6,000. Also do yourself a favor and not follow the lifetime CVT fluid claim from the factory. Drain and fill (about 4qts) every 3 yrs 36,000. Mr Subaru on YouTube is a good source of information. Keeping tires equal in wear on all four corners is important. Putting a new tire on when the rest of the set is worn causes damage to the drive train.

The main issue being seen is the TCV Thermal Control Valve they have extended the warranty to 15 yrs/150k miles. The 2025 Forester they did away with it.

To add to your maintenance notes - while your tires are pretty "new" be faithful about rotations at 5k intervals. I run Coopers on my Subies with great mileage/treadwear and performance. What ever brand you select do note they did not deal well with a directional tread tire - can't criss-cross for rotations and they did not wear well at all staying on one side.

My son in law sells Subarus in CFL, says he's really happy with this job, major difference in clientele as in people with good credit and no major under water trades vs selling Cheverolet and Kia's

My wife is on her third Forester. She's had a 2010, 2014, and the latest one is a 2025. The 2024 you got is the last year before the big redesign, but you got a pretty good deal on the 2024, and it's a CPO. As you noticed the Forester is a very stable vehicle, and I can tell you it's great in the snow. We've gotten 100k+ miles out of each of our first three Foresters, and there's no reason why yours won't last that long.

100K is just the break-in period!

I've had 3 Foresters. They were great cars. My last one was a 2018 XT Touring. My wife still drives a WRX, her 3rd one. I only switched because Subaru quit making the Forester XT.

I've been watching Mr Subaru for the last few years, and I trust him. For those who don't know a lot about Subarus, it is good to watch one of his latest videos. It gets you up to speed on how different Subarus are from other vehicles.

I don’t know what these reviewers were talking about when researching this vehicle:

Really? Seems to have plenty of get up and go, 182 hp seems plenty for this size vehicle. I guess the Mazda I had previously was really underpowered because this one feels like it has really good power.

“The CVT stinks. CVT’s are awful”

Really? I don’t even notice it. The car just shifts so smoothly and imperceptibly to me, seems just fine.

I get the 'underpowered' claims. Compared to most of its competitors, it may be a bit behind on hp/tqe, but I found the few years old models I looked at to be fine in normal daily driver performance. You won't be winning any races with it, but it serves its purpose well.
I came close on a 2017 a few years ago, I think it was 1 trim below a Touring, good condition but the numbers didn't play how we needed. Also looked at an Outback & didnt find the N/A 2.5 to be a slog for a commuter/family hauler.

I think Subaru has one of the better CVTs, along with Honda.
Been a while, but really didnt like the Nissan CVT, it had the worst 'rubber band' effect of the 3 mfgs.

Truth^^. Subbies almost seem more stable in inclement weather. I’ve been in an Outback on the highway in an absolute massive downpour, and it cursed along like it was out for a casual Sunday drive to the park through the neighborhood.

Look at Michelin CrossClimate tires when you’re due for new.

I did not have good experience with directional treads on my subies - have to keep tires on one side only and they would wear wonky.
