I know three four people with Hyundai that have had major problems after that great 10 year warranty expired. It seems to be normal and I would avoid. I stopped buying Subaru’s (I owned them for a couple decades) due to ongoing issues with new vehicles (CVT, fuel leaks) that they could not fix.

I ended up with 2 4Runners with the 4.0 V6. Good luck with your endeavor.

Another question here specifically for the people that own the Mazda CX-5 and CX-50:

Did you test drive both? Was there one that you liked over the other? I have seen a lot of CX-50's lately and like how it seems to sit a little lower and seems a little wider, almost more like a station wagon or Forester than the taller CX-5. That actually appeals to me here.

I did not drive both Mazdas.

I had a 2015 CX-5 that I loved, so I just test drove a new 2025 CX-5.
The CX-50 has more bells & whistles than the CX-5, but I didn't need those features.
The new CX-5 is every bit as good as the old one.
Mazda handling is excellent.

You can't go wrong with either the CX-5 or the CX-50, in my opinion.

We test drove both back in 2022 when we were looking to replace our Honda Pilot, and liked the both of them.

They had a nice driving ‘feel’ as Mazda’s are known for.

We purchased a Passport because it was a mid-size step up from the same-sized SUV’s as the CX-5 / 50, but not as large as a three row SUV.

The CX-5/50, iirc, had slightly less cargo space than their direct competition.

IMO, I find the CX50 much better looking.
I haven't driven a CX5 in years, so I can't comment on that for either.

Aesthetically, I prefer the 50

I have two CRVs. 2016 and a 2018.
I like them both. They are comfortable, quiet on the highway, peppy with plenty of pickup, the 2018 has more cargo space than the others you listed (iirc) reliable, 34 mpg. I’ve never had one problem. I maintain them and wash and wax a couple of times a year. I have a 2001 Honda Accord with 401400 miles on it and it drives just as good as the day I drove it off the lot.

Bump. I’ve got a 2021 Subaru Outback that I really like but I’m looking at a replacement.

Very likely a turbo version of the Outback like the Onyx or Wilderness package. I get good mileage but it’s not got a lot of oomph.

However, I’m also looking at a Mazda or Toyota RAV4.

Does anyone here have an Acura ADX?

Looks like they took the new Honda HRV and fancied it up a little and added a turbo which addresses the one issue why I passed on the HRV (slow 0-60 time, underpowered engine):

HRV is like 9.5 - 10 seconds
ADX is 7 seconds

I've seen a few on the road, sharp looking car.
I'd still lean CX50, but I'd guess the ADX is probably a bit cheaper.

Day 3 on our 2025 Mazda CX-50. It is the 2.5 Turbo AWD Premium Plus with $2100 additional factory options. NO DEALER INSTALLED BS. Even my wife is happy. We were in a bit of a hurry and the dealer knew what and when we wanted (not a good situation for dealing) but we go 10% off the MSRP.

SO a coworker has a 2023 Subaru Forester Wilderness that she let me test drive and WOW I am impressed. The thing drove really smooth and the visibility all around was top notch, and being able to see the hood was kind of cool, haven't seen that in years. I wanted to eliminate of of the 3 off my list and was thinking it would be the Subie but now it's not.

Now my family is joking that I will need to get some purple hair and Birkenstocks and some Democrat bumper stickers

Mazda is on its' last legs and I plan to get a replacement car by October-November, hopefully after they cut rates again here.

I added a Hybrid as I do drive 1 hour each way to work each day about 40 miles each way and the hybrid may work for me. My commute is sometimes highways but a lot of back roads too as I have to deal with a perpetually jammed up highway I avoid like the plague due to asshole drivers and constant crashes.

Would really like to get some feedback from the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid owners here about how they like them. It looks to me if going hybrid then Toyota is the way as they really have perfected them. Mazda and Honda more like hybrid wannabees in comparison.

Will be 2022-2024. All would be AWD (I know that's standard on the Subie) Not buying anything brand spanking new as new car prices are freaking insane:

Get yourself another Mazda CX-5...Just sayin'

Years ago I had a Honda CR-V, drove it into the ground with no major problems.

I received a much higher value on trade than expected on the CRV with 200K plus miles.

Traded up to the pilot. Had the Pilot 7 years, no problems.

Just out of curiosity, is the insurance higher on the hybrid as opposed to a normal fossil fuel car?

I’ve run all of these last models by my insurance agent at State Farm and surprisingly no. I thought the hybrid would be way higher to insure but it’s only a few dollars difference between the gas and the hybrid model for the RAV4.

More surprisingly is that the Honda CRV is the most expensive to insure of all of these cars, it’s not significantly more but it’s noticeably more, I don’t know why that is. Is it stolen more often?

My daughter has a leased Jeep Wrangler hybrid.
I don't know if her experience applies to other makes, but she says she will never get another and is glad it's a leased vehicle.
Many minor problems and last weekend the car wouldn't run after a bad software update was pushed out (it affected all owners across the country).

I looked at the Forester a few years ago & it wasn't bad, but felt a bit underpowered, and a bit cheaper inside [being Impreza based, vs the Legacy/Outback]

CRV & CX5 would be a tough call. I think the Mazda looks better & probably drives a bit better, and has a traditional automatic vs the CVT in the CRV.

After A LOT of shopping around for the same ‘class’ of vehicle as you, involving visits to the stealerships, test drives, and other considerations, my mom is going to purchase a new 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. It should be arriving soon from either the KY or Japan factory.

She likes the driver-assist features of the Toyota the most (among other things too).

Because ‘mother knows best’, you should get the RAV4 Hybrid!

what happened to the Acura? $? That looks the sweetest and good specs.

I did not dig into them all, but I would quickly rule out anything with a CVT transmission
