Certainly a tragic story. I do not understand why the police think three million dollar bunker had anything to do with the killing. RICHMOND, Ky. (WXIX) - Kentucky State Police think a Richmond, Kentucky, mansion with a built-in bunker could be the motive behind the home invasion killing that killed a former assistant commonwealth attorney. Around 4 a.m. Feb. 22, Shannon Gilday, 23, of Taylor Mill, forced his way into the home of former Kentucky Representative C. Wesley Morgan, according to state police. Gilday used a rifle to kill 32-year-old Jordan Morgan while she was in bed, KSP explained Thursday. Jordan is the daughter of the ex-state representative. The home where it occurred is a $6.5 million mansion that is equipped with a doomsday bunker, Garretts Real Estate Group’s website shows. KSP says 23-year-old Shannon V. Gilday, from Taylor Mill, is the suspect in the violent home... KSP says 23-year-old Shannon V. Gilday, from Taylor Mill, is the suspect in the violent home invasion that killed Jordan Morgan.(Kentucky State Police) State police confirmed to WXIX on Friday that Gilday may have targeted the Richmond home because of the bunker. The 2,000-square-foot shelter, which was built 26 feet underground, can “withstand a Seismic 12 earthquake” and has two escape tunnels, the website shows. The bunker is valued at $3 million, according to the Lexington Herald Leader. State police issued an active arrest warrant for Gilday on Thursday. He is considered armed and dangerous, according to state police. He is described as 6 feet tall, weighing 175 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He served in the Army beginning in August 2018 and was never deployed, according to a U.S. Army spokesperson. He held the rank of private when he was dishonorably discharged in October 2019, a source confirms. https://www.nbc12.com/2022/02/...angerous-police-say/

Man, if you have something like that. You best have a very high level of security. Probably 24/7 onsite armed security. Not good. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

Odd. A home with a survival bunker would be decidedly not be the home I would want to try to break into.

This. I have had customers keeping things in their homes that they probably shouldn't have been. When faced with actually putting the proper measures in place they are often declined. The construction would require permits, and permits are public. If a potential bad guy sees a big "vault" being buried out behind the house, his first assumption is that it's full of all sorts of treasure.

Thank you Very little |
Have to agree sounds like a deranged man, who knew about the bunker since it's listed for sale online... Cool home, pictures of the interior and bunker at link.. https://garrettsrealty.com/lis...d-richmond-ky-40475/

You'll never keep it secret, but you can minimize it, but if I had one I'd certainly never talk about it, or allow any visitors or news interviews or attract any attention to it, or me, etc. You flaunt it, you're asking for trouble. .

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Reasonable price for that place. Ten minutes from Lexington. I guess having someone murdered in the house would drop the price. I could be comfortable there. I would hire 24 hr. armed security. Would not be that expensive. I guess he parlayed work with the Feds into the Liquor business. Do not know for sure. He looks kind of ragged for 71 years.

I don't know about 24x7 armed security, but I'd damn sure have at least one helluva surveillance system and alarm system, with at least redundant--if not dual redundant, Internet connectivity. Apart from the potential for economic collapse and civil disorder, there were hundreds of tons of chemical agents stored at the Blue Grass Army Depot south of Richmond, not far away, he said. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^G Glad he disclosed that fact. Not exactly a selling point in my mind.

Happens all the time. People are obliviots. In this town alone: High profile realtor bought a new home, had a bunch of people over. Left the bookcase door open in order to show people how cool it was that they have a secret room. Cardiologist in town has a secret basement room. The middle of it is entirely comprised of racks with rifles and shotguns... into which he invited people and allowed them to take photos with their cell phones. Brilliant. _________________________ NRA Endowment Member _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. I agree that it's strange to think the bunker was the motivation. They thought the killer aimed to take the bunker back to his place? On the other hand, I find it strange if the killer knew about the $3 million bunker. You get a $3 million bunker built and then post selfies of you in it on Instagram? "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Why don’t you fix your little problem and light this candle |
Breaking and entering is one thing. Murdering someone in their sleep is something else. I get that the bunker must have been messed with so they think that is the motivation. I suspect there is more to this story. This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it. -Rear Admiral (Lower Half) Joshua Painter Played by Senator Fred Thompson
