I was going to mention this. Not unlike the Salem Witch trials or the Inquisition. Most often it's just a convenient excuse to extort or rid oneself of enemies.
Uh, the Salem witch trials were almost four hundred years ago....

Yes. And the Inquisition a bit before that. The point is in both of those cases as well as the majority of what goes on in various African nations is predicated more on extortion, property, or any given number of vendettas than any actual belief of witchcraft. That is not to say that there aren't some that are based on superstitious hocus pocus, but in most cases ulterior motives can be found.

Duster42I think that the liveleak video's mentioned in this thread were taken on the south and west side of Chicago.

Can't tell the difference in locations.

Actually not really, the beliefs in witchcraft, sorcery and black magic are very strong as is the power of a witchdoctor. If you go into bedrooms, you'll often find the bed propped on bricks. This is to stop the occupant being harmed by the Tokoloshe (type of malevolent spirit). There's also an illegal trade in human body parts for muti (traditional medicine). These beliefs co-exist along with Christianity.
