I recently had one eye done and then twelve days later the other eye done. They told me that they never do both at the same time for " safety reasons. Well it takes four office visits per eye, And now I am wondering if they just want to Bill right office visits instead of four? ( Generating twice as much revenue) Initial visit Testing visit Surgery Follow up Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Neck Ties, Hats and ammo brass, Never ,ever touch'em w/o asking first | ||

My mother had cataract surgery this summer and she did it in exactly the same fashion you describe. They also told her that they don’t do both eyes at the same time. I recall only one initial and testing visit so 6 total. Anyway, given the result, the procedure was well worth what they charged. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride. | |||

That’s standard protocol. I have a friend who got an infection in one eye after the surgery . She lost sight permanently in that eye. Had she had both done at the same time, well, you can see the wisdom in spacing the surgery. Also, I had a huge build up of pressure in my left eye after using the prescribed steroid drops after surgery. My sight was impaired for a time until pressure could be brought to normal levels. What if I had done both eyes at once and had that reaction in both eyes simultaneously? Follow medical advice . Usually, they know more than we do. | |||

This was more or less the same process I had. There was an additional step between 2 & 3 for me where they evaluated the retina and could do a quick repair a week before the surgery if needed. Fortunately I was ok in both eyes and didn't need the correction. Mine were done about a month apart, Doc said they normally do them about a week or two apart to make sure there are no issues but anyone that is diabetic, as I am, they prefer to be sure there is no infection and the healing is going properly. My dad had his done earlier this year. Similar process to what you described. Multiple appointments, and the second eye was done more than a month after the first. I think the log was that if something goes wrong, it's much better to live with one messed up eye than be completely blind. I'd concur with that logic, and would happily pay pretty much anything to not be blind. Both of his went fine and he can see better than he has in years. Money well spent. | |||

Guy here in town permanently lost his vision in the first eye operated on. I think he’s probably glad they didn't do both eyes the same day. I don’t believe he’s had surgery on the remaining eye. | |||

Today I had my annual eye exam by an ophthalmologist. I had my cataracts removed 10 years ago with both eyes @ 20/400+. I wore contacts for years but the corrected vision was not a clear as glasses - which I started wearing in the 3rd grade. I have mono-vision correction for reading/distance with one diopter removed from my left eye. This started 45 years ago. Today I am 20/20 and 20/25. Who could ask for anything more?
