I find the stark contrast to this thread interesting where most of the posters support human actors being replaced by AI. Different members posted in the two different threads, but if you support IRL films & shows being replaced by 100% AI, do you feel the same about music? If you'd pay to watch AI films & shows, would you pay for music composed & performed by AI too?

There is a slight but important difference. AI generated music is generated by AI. AI actors aren't writing the movie nor directing it, they are just performing what is scripted.
AI generating complete movie plot lines and scripts would be the equivalent of AI generated music. I think we'd find it as uninspired as AI generated music. Lacking in nuance and emotion.

A better equivalence to AI actors would be a computer performing music written by a human. And, in fact, we've had that for quite a while. Either synthesized musical notes or recorded single notes which were played by a human are assembled by the computer and played out. The human composer writes the music but the computer plays it. Human musicians are being rapidly replaced by such recordings for live performances. Broadway musicals are one example. Movie soundtracks are another. Computer games, too.

Though there are plenty of good reasons to replace fickle stupid humans as actors, I think we are a long way off from getting rid of major stars. People feel a personal connection, as fake as it is, with their favorite actors. They like hearing about their glamorous lives.
