Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
Ford Mustangs have some padding between the fuel tank and the body to keep the metal from rubbing together. The padding kit is $55. I have some extra Kilmat from a car stereo project. Any issue using the Kilmat instead? It’s more of an interior product but it really does not see much of the elements on top of the tank. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. I don't see why not. It's similar material right?

The factory pad is more of a really dense foam. I was not sure if the Kilmat would be bothered by moisture being outside the vehicle. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. probably a good thing I don't have a cut |
The installation guide on their website says: Please Note: Material is for inside use only. The allowed temperature is from -49°F (-45°C) to 212°F (100°C) Don't use the material in such high temperature exposed areas as exhaust pipe.

It is a one time installation. You don’t want any problems. You don’t want degradation. Ford spent a lot of time and money ensuring their foam works. For all we know the Ford foam has conductive media to dissipate static electricity in the matrix. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

I don't know anything about Kilmat, but for the love of God, please do not install Killdozer.

Now that I look closer at Kilmat ~ I don't think it gives enough and a foam not metallic surface should be between them.

Thank you Very little |
Checked out that image on stangnet.com, couple of images that were larger, the poster said the insulation was OEM and the way to go, note the thickness of the stock insulation, is the kilmat that thick? For $55 think I'd go OEM, and do it right, if the kilmat fails after a year or so, you'd be pulling the tank and doing it all over.

Did not even think of that portion. OEM padding it is. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!
