Poking around edc forums while bored, I ran across this concept: either a belt-loop or belt-clip pouch for knife (or multitool), flashlight, and pen.

It appears there's lots of options for in-pocket organizers, but I don't want that much in my pocket; I'm liking the concept of the clip-on (but not the belt-loop, which seems too burdensome). A little geeky, perhaps, but I am willing to to try this solution as I find my pockets bulky with keys, phone, knife, and wallet, even without pen and flashlight. (I don't carry stuff in back pocket 'cause it just doesn't feel good to this old back anymore and somehow less secure.)

However, it appears to me from pics that this guy's leather is a little thin and floppy and perhaps won't hold up over time.

Your thoughts, and more importantly, is this something you would consider doing more robustly and at what price?

Seems pricey. And his belt loop model is definitely pricey..
I have seen that style of clip fail, mainly by poor retention.
Not a bad idea, just needs a little better execution.

I would think thicker leather with a snap button belt loop on the back would be plenty secure. And I agree that it seems pricey.

This entire "EDC" market amazes me to no end.

Fifty dollar hankies. $200 and up, fidget spinners. Silly expensive fountain pens. Ridiculous 2" long "pry bars" from titanium for $100 on up!

Do ANY of these guys really USE this stuff, maybe short of the pens?

It is amazing how these niche markets arise, and how the interest and desire feeds itself, pushing to greater and greater heights and more and more stuff.

Having said that, I've identified a want and am now looking forward to what the leatherworkers have to say.

It sure doesn't look streamlined to me. I used to be a belt carry guy for my leatherman, flashight, and phone. I once had a combo leatherman and flashlight belt holder.

I've gotten to like canvas over leather. It doesn't show wear over the years and less bulk.

These days, I clip my knife to my pocket and relegate my flashlight to a light backpack. (Yeah, talk about being bulky.)

Back when I was in the Navy, I carried something similar. It carried my knife and marlin spike (Boatswains Mate). It was made out of a very thick leather and held up through years of abuse. The problem was that it wasn't very concealable and was a very simple design. My guess that with the leather needing to be thicker, it will be less comfortable as well. I hope you find what you're looking for.

If he's using veg tanned leather (description says it is) it should be 'stiffer' as is unless he is doing something to soften it. I'd say it's probably 6oz which is what I would have chosen for a project like that. Some of those rigs look pretty dang big - like full size pistol holster big. I'd be concerned with the comfort of something like that (especially at that price point). I would have used rivets at the top/bottom of the stitch rows since that is where the stress will be and most likely to fail.

I've just clipped stuff in pockets for years, but I'm getting tired of skinning the back of my hand every time I reach for my keys or money. And my wife is trying to wean me off cargo pants she says why spend all that time and effort to trim up if you're just going to wear baggy clothes.

As for concealability, that's not really the goal here, and I don't see these as any bulkier than the smartphone cases the older gents wear clipped to their belts around here.

I fully agree that the belt-loop ones are overkill and to me, slightly goofy wannabe, but I'm not sure I want to roll the dice on the clip-on one cited in the OP. I was going to ask for it as b-day present. But we'll see.
