Holy Cow! one accidental shot from the 16th floor to the knee of a woman walking on the beach. This incident kind of emphasizes safety rule #4 way out of proportion, eh? PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) – Panama City Beach Police released more information regarding the shooting that took place at Panama City Beach’s Majestic Towers. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news...it-fired/ar-AA1dZ1tg Three out-of-state men were arrested following the shooting that inflicted gunshot wounds to an 18-year old woman. The men include 20-year-old Damien Marrell Chhoeung, 19-year-old Elijah Chhoeung, and 21-year-old Hunter Hatfield. The report states that Damien Chhoeung fired the gun by mistake after attempting to remove sand from the firearm, later admitting in an arrest affidavit that he was drinking. The three men were on the 16th floor of the resort. Only one shot was fired. Damien Chhoeung is facing charges of improper exhibition of a firearm in public, possession of cannabis, and tampering with evidence. His bond is $85,000. Both Elijah Chhoeung and Hatfield were charged with tampering of evidence, with both having $25,000 bonds. Hatfield posted his bond. The PCB police department says the investigation remains active and further arrests linked to the incident could be made _________________________________ Damien Chhoeung of Fayetteville was also drinking when he removed the gun from his backpack and attempted to “get sand out of his firearm,” police wrote. However, Chhoeung’s cleaning method was “reckless” and “negligent” and the weapon fired. The gunshot hit a woman in the leg while she was walking on the beach near Chhoeung’s condo. The woman suffered “great bodily harm,” and was rushed to a local hospital. After the shooting, Chhoeung gave the gun to an as yet unnamed “co-defendant” who threw it in the woods, police wrote. Chhoeung was later located and arrested. He is charged with possession of marijuana, improper exhibition of a firearm, and discharging a firearm in public. ____________________

Finally, a gun that didn't fire itself. It didn't "just went off." "We're all travelers in this world. From the sweet grass to the packing house. Birth 'til death. We travel between the eternities."

I'm not buying the 'cleaning sand out of it routine'. I'm more likely to believe that he was standing there either screwing around posing with it or actually pointing it at people on the beach "I'd bust a cap in that muddafukka o' in dat bich..." and his booger hook was on the bang switch. All of the above (even if he was cleaning) was grossly negligent and just damn stupid. It's always the cleaning that makes the gun go off. Solution? Stop cleaning them guns. Q

What kind of angle would that be from the 16th floor to the beach? A 45? Looking at the picture below, probably closer to 60 degrees down. He’d have to have been on the edge of the balcony for his story to even be plausible. I think the cleaning the gun myth has been busted. I’m curious how the guy got caught.

Same here. I'd like to see what his rap sheet looks like. I'm betting that this is not his first encounter with Law Enforcement. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Not sure why the 20 year old is emphasized? Can 20 year olds not own handguns in Florida?? ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

Why do I get the feeling that if a prosecutor got him on the stand and showed him a bottle of Hoppes #9 he would have no idea what it is?

As far as I know, a 20 YO can own a handgun in FL, if it was gifted to them. BUT, a 20 YO can NOT purchase nor carry concealed. Could be wrong, don't think I am. Not that this was concealed... Just curious, I mean besides for the fact his friend ditched the gun for him, which isn't strange at all. __________________________________ NRA Benefactor I lost all my weapons in a boating, umm, accident. http://www.aufamily.com/forums/

Ah, noticed that and it didn't stick. No CC for him in FL. So he gave it to a friend who ditched it... Hmmm __________________________________ NRA Benefactor I lost all my weapons in a boating, umm, accident. http://www.aufamily.com/forums/

Why would being 20 prevent old Damien from possessing a handgun? It’s a rhetorical question. Here’s his mugshot from April of 2022: “ROSWELL, Ga. - Police said they were able to take drugs and guns off the street after arresting three people suspected of burglarizing a Roswell apartment. Paul Perkins, Damien Chhoeung, and Christian Aguilar were charged with burglary, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, felony theft by taking among other charges." So they were cleaning the gun they stole ?

Well, no. The guns and drugs Damien was arrested with back in April of 2022 were kept by the police. The gun and drugs he was arrested with this time are different ones. That he’s 20 is irrelevant. The guy isn’t a law abiding citizen in the first place; a pattern he’s clearly demonstrating with this latest incident. I wonder how a non-law abiding citizen goes from arrested for guns, drugs, and armed burglary to shooting people on the beach in a little over a year. That’s a 3/4 rhetorical wonder. That’s the story the media should be looking at. In one article I read, the woman and her friends were laying on the beach and thought the shot was fireworks until a nearby father told his little girls to run. The perpetrator goes from arrest for felonies and the next year, he’s terrorizing a beach full of tourists.
