NY law granting illegal immigrants driver’s licenses could lead to voter fraud
sounds very similar to the situation in California

https://nypost.com/2019/06/18/...lead-to-voter-fraud/

A loophole in the new law granting driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants could allow hundreds of thousands of people to fraudulently register to vote in New York, according to critics, the state Board of Elections and the bill’s own sponsor.

“[A] major concern is that many states, including New York, use their DMVs to enroll voters. Since New York does not have voter-identification laws like the majority of other states do, this bill increases the potential for voter fraud,” state Sen. Republican Minority Leader John Flanagan (R–Suffolk) said Tuesday.

“This means that New York will soon have the most radical, open-ended law in the entire nation.”

The Green Light Bill, which passed the Senate 33-29 Monday and was signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, allows illegal immigrants to obtain “standard” state driver’s licenses that can be used for identification and to board domestic flights.

But it is also the sole document required to register to vote , according to officials.

Even legislative sponsor Luis Sepúlveda (D-Bronx) admitted the provision could be abused.

“Theoretically, they could have the ability to vote,” he said while arguing for the bill during a Monday hearing in Albany.

Voters need only provide a driver’s license number to register to vote, according to BOE spokesman John Conklin.

“If you have a driver’s license number, you basically stop there,” Conklin told The Post Tuesday of the vetting process.

Registrants are required to check a box swearing they are eligible to vote in the US, but “ it’s basically an honor system ,” he said.

I'M SURE THAT WASN'T CUOMO'S INTENT.
Ha!

I have to semi disagree. As a life long NY resident and voter, I've never even had them ask me for my drivers license. Frown

What I'd like to know is what kind of documentation they're going to ask for to get one. Are they going to lower the ID requirements for everyone or just make special exceptions?

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Good question. I seem to recall NY requiring multiple forms of proof of address, age, etc. to obtain a drivers license.

Granted it has been 27 years since I moved out of NYC but, I doubt the requirements are any less stringent today then they were when I obtained my first drivers license in 1976.

I had to provide documentation for my federal “gold star” drivers license. I’m supposed to get into some federal bldgs and airports. Hell, there are times I wish I was an illegal.

I lived in Horseheads/Corning and Jamestown/Lakewood NY from 2001 to 2013.

In my experience they ALWAYS asked to see my driver's license when I voted- But I am told it can be done quite differently near/in big NY cities. (I.E. mileage may vary).

Someone tell just how in the hell are these illegals going to get their licenses in compliance with the Federal Real ID Act without additional shenanigans by the Dems in power in NY?

Or will the Dems be satisfied with allowing anyone with a drivers license, Real ID certified or not, to vote?

I was wondering if I start to identify as an undocumented worker, could I could pick a name and get a second drivers license?

The Dems own the state anyway.

But other states will follow, which is bad.

Worked in California, don't see why it wouldn't work in New York.

We have to have Real ID drivers licenses now and our conservative vote has been cancelled, just like it was planned.

We need voter ID NOW!

I don't understand the question.

I am not from NY, but I didn't see any NY requirement for REAL ID to vote.

This the easiest way for a Dem takeover next election. It would be so difficult and expensive to verity the huge numbers of voters, it would be near impossible. Better get the voter ID laws nailed down now, or be prepared for a never ending fight.

The documents for an illegal to get a license:

“Any immigrant who lives in New York without legal immigration status will have to prove their age and identity with valid, foreign-issued documents.

The new law lays out three documents that will be accepted:

An unexpired passport issued by the applicant's country of citizenship
An unexpired identification document issued by a consulate from the applicant's country of citizenship
A valid foreign driver's license that includes a photo of the applicant and is either unexpired or expired within the prior two years”

“ The work of destruction is quick, easy and exhilarating; the work of creation is slow, laborious and dull.

That’s one of the main reason lefty Gov’s are pushing drivers licenses for illegals. It’s the same here in WI, anything they can do to tilt in their favor.

If states allow illegals to vote, the entire states votes should be thrown out of all federal elections.

If people in a state are ok with illegals voting in state wide elections, that’s on them. Either change it or move.
