A friend that I first met in 1979, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about 1 month ago. A group of friends and I drove the 4 hours to see him this weekend to say goodbye. As of yesterday, we think he only has days left.

This Monday Morning Quote of the Week is dedicated to him:

• My life was blessed through your friendship. May you find blessings in the next life, dear friend. unknown

I may be facing a similar situation, a friend's wife has cancer and is having difficulty getting treatment in a timely manner. I was Best Man at their wedding 51 years ago.

^^^Sorry to hear that.

My friend went from getting a port to start chemo last Wednesday with a somewhat optimistic outlook if he could undergo 3 chemo treatments, to tanking the next day with no hope.

Do not let them delay treatment for your friends spouse. Time can be of the essence. Best of luck!

Yeah, I was dismayed by the delay as well, but both of them are retired medical-types and understand the risks. They opted for a place in Tampa that has a superior reputation but couldn't see her immediately, in part because of the hurricane.

It's a nail-biter.

At least they should know what they’re doing.

As to my friend, he passed away today at 4pm. He’s golfing and fishing in heaven now Smile

It's tough to think of him as being in a better place if you aren't with him, but that's the way it has to be. Stay strong.

Thank you, TMats. It's tough to see suffering and still maintain faith, which is why I said to h2oys "it has to be."
