So Franken is speaking through his staff who are speaking through MSNBC talking head Kasie Hunt. Who needs talking points when you've got a sock puppet?
I guess Franken must think it's OK for him to assert that he "mock-groped" her instead of actually groping her because she was asleep at the time. There's only two problems with that. One, the distinction between mock-groped and groped doesn't really mean much or the fact that she was wearing body armor at the time would've made this a non-story fast. Two, I see physical contact in the picture taken by his brother, Owen Franken.

The Senate Ethics committee has handed down NO sanctions of any kind going back to 2007.
Yep. He's getting overrun by accusations in the media, so he's calling in Nerf fire on his own position. Think of it as a perk - it's cheaper and less hassle than going into rehab.

2012BOSS302Twin Cities Sexual Assault Victim Doesn't Want Franken's Name on Legislation
The Twin Cities woman who helped Senator Al Franken draft a new bill to aid sexual assault victims now hopes someone else can champion the legislation.
The bill was designed to provide funding for training first responders on ways of interviewing victims who have been traumatized.
Just last month, Abby Honold stood side-by-side with Franken at a press conference announcing the bill.

That just made me smile! LOL. At least the brothers will have something to talk about over Thanksgiving dinner. "You want the breast, Al?"
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." RipleyThese sexual misconduct allegations appear to have Franken's tit in a wringer but no surprise for a man known to be a Class A asshole.
Last night Tucker pointed out AF is about the worst politico to work for, abusive to staff and a screamer. A common theme for greater good Dems but still...
Franken is confrontational and pugnacious, even physically threatening. IIRC he was a high school wrestler and thinks he's some kind of hard ass.
I was surprised Hannity didn't take the opportunity to dredge up one of AF's cheaper moments. Back in the day of Hannity and Colmes, Alan was dining at some upscale NYC restaurant and was accosted by Franken who loudly berated Colmes for being part of Fox News as a token liberal butt boy. I guess it was quite a scene.
I can't remember the specifics but liberal journo Bernie Goldberg had had enough and went through an ideological change. He appeared on someone's (Donahue?) early cable evening yak-fest. He was faced with a panel of lefties -- there were several -- including Franken. AF was the loudest and ripped into Goldberg over some arcane point in Soviet history. He was such an ass that Goldberg blew up and destroyed Franken with incontrovertible facts the blew Franken's shit out of the water. Al simpered in the corner the rest of the show.

The smile became so broad it pushed his eyes shut. He couldn't stand it any longer. "Put that in, put that in," Franken laughed, leaning over the desk. "I'd love to see that in The Crimson."

Sig2340And now, from the Congressional Office of Compliance we learn of a slush fund dating from 1997 to present being used to pay settlements to victims of sexual harassment by members of Congress.
That equates to 264 settlements, totaling $17,222,854, for an average of $65,328.
What our tax dollars are going for guys.
So far, no names have been released, but that is not going to stay that way for long.
