My 20lb lap dog seems to gravitate more toward who is home more on a given day.

"My" two big boys both belonged to my roommate before she came to live here. Over time they both attached themselves to me; I feed and play with them and take care of their vet needs, they sleep with me. They compete with each other for my attention. Roommate is leaving in a few months to go live with her daughter and can't take the dogs (daughter is allergic), so they'll stay with me. I'm cool with that. The (roommate's) cat, on the other hand, is a devil. She likes me and loves to curl up in my lap to snooze (which annoys the dogs to no end, they're both in the 100# area and both think they're lap dogs), but she refuses to use a scratching post and has destroyed parts of walls and several of my door frames. I'm going to retire and move in a year or two and the cat will NOT be coming with me, I just don't want to have to deal with her destructiveness is a new home. Besides, both her and one of the dogs will be happier if they don't have to live under the same roof. So hopefully the roommate will take the cat with her. If not then we'll have to find a new home for her.
