Prayers sent for you & your pa. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Reading your post put a lump in my throat, what a man, father & grandfather your pa must have been.

I'm very sorry for your loss. My Dad passed in 2004 after surviving the D-Day invasion, a 40+ year career at North American Aviation and raising 4 boys. He was the greatest man I knew; your Dad sounds a lot like mine.

That was a beautiful, heartfelt eulogy. Cherish the memories and make damned sure your kids and their kids know the story of the man they called GrandPa.
I'm sorry for your loss.

Although the pain of his passing is real, your father had a good life to age 97 and was an exceptional man, at that. You have every right to be proud of him, and I pray that your memories will sustain you during the grieving period. RIP, indeed.

Sorry for your loss. I'd be interested to know what TD unit he was with, if you have any idea. My grandfather was with the 807th, hence my avatar.

Sorry for your loss.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
