Received a call informing me of a purchase of over $1100 dollars to my account. I never made such purchase. Ask me dial a number conforming the purchase. Of course I hung up and checked my account. Nothing there.

Another variant on the "this is (Apple/Microsoft), your computer is infected, give us all your passwords" scam.

I got the same call as the OP, except I "only" owed $149.99. I don't have an account with Amazon, so not really worried. Different day....different scam

Never got that one, but I periodically get one saying there's a warrant out for my arrest and the police are watching my house.

Giving them my CC number and paying a fine will get me off, though.

I had a friend tell me he received an email claiming to have pictures of his wife with another man and offering to sell them to him.

My friend has never been married.

I got a call today about it - on my home phone - my home phone isn't in my profile with them.

It said I had a purchase in the $400 range.

I don't know if you guys are aware of this, but each of you personally owes the IRS back taxes and penalties. The good news is that you can now pay your taxes with Amazon gift cards. If you want to avoid jail just contact me and I will give you the address to mail the gift cards and it will clear your account with the IRS. Roll Eyes

I hate scammers, and I've seen most, if not all, due to my job.

The scammers have gotten very good at imitating major retailers. Apple et al. Logos, official looking graphics. Apple, Microsoft, your bank or just about any reputable organization will never send you an email and want you to click a link or provide any sensitive information. When in doubt, don't do it. If it's legit they will contact you in a secure format.

I am getting the coming to arrest you from Social Security for fraud.

They have my phone number connected to my real name.

I used to try to keep them on the phone as long as possible. Now when I give them my name they hang up right away.

I get lots of calls wanting to sell me an extended car warranty. They’re trying to reach me before they close their file. Most of the time the calls are from “unknown name” so I don’t even answer. Roll Eyes

I get the Amazon scams by email.

Sad to say that I have received almost all of the above calls and attempted telephone scams over the last couple years. One that's not mentioned is the real voice (male or female) who contacts you by name and is collecting for some police or other first responder organization, disabled Vets, or other official sounding organization. All are scams as none of those solicit by phone. My favorite answer is to tell them I want to give them a $1000 dollar donation in cash immediately if they will have someone meet me that day at the office of my county sheriff so we can thank them personally for all their good work. To date no one has come to collect their donation. Big Grin

My life is a wreck.

My car is out of warranty.
My social security number is disabled.
I owe the IRS and they are coming to arrest me.
Windows has expired.
IOS has expired.
I paid too much on my gaselectric bill

The good news is that I can use my new MasterVisa card to pay for a complimentary vacation at a Marriott hotel.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?
