... for the first time since being a little kid.

Good friends from work set up a trip to the river this afternoon. I haven't fished since about age 5, so I told my guys they pretty much had a 5-year-old on their hands -- I'm a clean-sheet, know-nothing newbie.

We had a great float (kayaks), didn't catch a darned thing, got out right before the heavy rainstorm came in, and had a great meal at a local Salvadoran restaurant afterwards.

It was a great day. Cool

God bless America.

Can't go wrong fishing, even if you don't catch anything it's fun just to be on the water. There's just something relaxing about floating (or trolling) along and tossing a line.

At least you didn’t get drug all the way to the bottom of Davey Jones’ locker.

Any day fishing (even w/o catching anything is better than being in the office.)

Even a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work..... Especially not catching any fish means you did not have to clean and dress them. ....................... drill sgt.

I once thought that I wasn't a fisherman. Then I tried it again as an adult.

Avoid fly fishing like the plague, because it is severely addictive.

Fathers Day will be OffShore fishing for me and my girls, just hoping the wind lays down a bit. Marine forecast 16 nm per mile winds, NW 3'-5' seas.

Good luck downtownv. I went on a drift fishing trip in Fort Lauderdale last month and the seas were horrible. About 30 people on board and all but about 5 yacked. I don’t get seasick but I did that day. Didn’t help that I hadn’t had anything to eat. Happy Father’s Day and tight lines

Good point, sir. We've got a plan to hit the river again after work on Wednesday; I'm looking forward to it.

Good luck to you and the girls today, downtownv.

God bless America.

Second trip out this afternoon, following work.

Two of us caught a tiny fish each -- perch, maybe. I got to watch a fish nibble at my lure -- little fella just wouldn't take a bite.

Today's odd event, though, was a deer running across the river about 20 yards ahead of us as we headed downstream. Never thought I'd see that!

Hoping the weather is this good again next Wednesday. Cool

God bless America.

Tell me you were on the New River, vthoky.
If not, get over to Narrows and on that river. You will catch fish, there.

Mr Monkey, the pic I really wish I had is one of the deer running across in front of us. For that brief half-second or so (critter was flying!) it was majestic -- beautiful animal, large splashes, and the sun behind her, reflecting off the water.

VNM: New River? Yessir!
Upstream from Narrows a little ways... almost within rock-throwing distance of the dam. Cool
We're considering a float from about the Dedmon to Giles sometime this summer.

God bless America.

Excellent. Just filmed a two day float trip over at Hinton, WV last month.

No kidding!? It's been a good long while since I've seen Hinton.

We just bought a GoPro at work, for filming some operations. I'm very tempted to borrow it for next week's river run. (I'm sure your vids are far better... Smile )

I stopped by the local surplus store yesterday and chatted with the owner for a while -- she fishes a lot, and set me up with a couple of new lures. I'm looking forward to the next trip already.

God bless America.

Didn't catch anything but weeds this evening.
No matter. Water was slow and calm, but four hours on the river seemed to fly by.

God bless America.

Excellent. Any day on the water is a good day.
As for cameras…yes, we use cool Sony FS5s to film the show with. They’re great, as long as they don’t go for a swim.
We also use GoPros, iPhones even.

So what you're saying is the fishing was great, but the catching sucked?
I have had many days like that! Wink
