So here’s another video of us out last weekend. Pretty awesome time. She is getting really good with the camera. My editing and movie making skills are still pretty lackluster. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy the video. Yes, I do go around the ledge. It doesn’t look very tall, but it was taller than the ground clearance of the Jeep. The “lol” thread

Just an observation but...It seems to me that your wife does a LOT of walking on these off-road adventures! Sooo, a couple of questions - Do you walk a lot of these segments prior driving/crawling them in the Jeep? Do you work out the videography (camera position, travel distance, etc) prior to each segment? Do you use two-way radios, or does she just look for the brake lights to know it's time to hop in the Jeep / move to the next location? Awesome video by the way....And a Beautiful Day! ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! Yes, she walks a lot. She is always wanting to hike/exercise, so I’m just aiding that. We don’t really ever chat about camera position or the like. She just does her thing. I bought her a DJI OM4, (gimbal), but she prefers to use her phone in hand. I think this is due to never really trying the gimbal, or learning how to use it. While we have two way radios, she doesn’t care for technology. I know it’s time to stop when I see she’s lowered the camera, or she knows the technical parts are over when I stop and wait. Most of the time I don’t walk the trails. I just drive them. The steps I avoided, I did walk that part as when driving up to them, they looked pretty big. So I stopped, hopped out and realized I would be belly dragging to get down them, so I went around. We went to Smasher Canyon and started our trip in, and at one point I stopped and walked a quarter mile just to go back and turn around. That canyon will be after a lift, more armor, more experience, a group of friends, and the willingness to sustain some body damage. It’s just too nice of a Jeep to beat the piss out if it just yet. do you have a hi-lift jack and second spare inside? What about other gear. a come along, a hitch winch, chains, cables, ropes, extra fuel, etc. I liked the video. That is an awesome overland route. I liked the terrain and her video. Better than most I seen. I do not watch a lot of them, but some. The expanse of the area captured on the video is really good. Kudos to you guys. Got to be getting hot out in that country this time of year. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

Mark, as far as extra gear I carry... A dozen or so bottles of drinking water. Two Yankum (kinetic) ropes, both 7/8”x30’. Two soft shackles Two hard shackles A couple tow straps (not kinetic) Gloves, handful of tools, electrical repair stuff Air compressor Flexzilla (repairable) hoses Extra valve stem cores The tow strap I can rig around a tire and use it as a winch if desperate. I try to stay light as I don’t want additional weight squatting me down. At some point I may look into a winch, but the lack of strong, stationary objects have kept me from the investment. I have a number of friends with capable vehicles that would come out and give me a yank if necessary. The “lol” thread

I really enjoy your videos. Your wife is doing a great job shooting! It's almost impossible to show the true angles in video or pictures, but showed up really well in this run. Thanks

As Extraordinary as Everyone Else |
Nice video Bean! We are on our way back from 3 weeks in TX & NM exploring the back country and deserts. Like your wife mine has to get out and stack rocks in order for us to get through some tough spots but she actually enjoys it and prefers for me to do the driving ;-). Now if I could just get her to video it like yours does... ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina
