Licorice Lovers, Have You Tried Wiley Wallaby Brand Yet?
We’ve only had the red, but it’s great and I recommend that you try it. The licorice comes from a small town in the north half of Minnesota called Perham. It’s sold in resealable foil/plastic pouches. Each piece is roughly 1 1/2” long by 3/8” and solid licorice, not hollow like the familiar Twizzlers.

In addition to classic red and black, they also make some unique licorice flavors: cinnamon, green apple, watermelon, huckleberry and blueberry-pomegranate.

Picked up the first bag from a counter display at the pet food store, and have since reordered from Amazon.

I like licorice a lot.
Tried Wallabys, don't care for it.

It’s too soft for me. Leave it open for about six months and it’s perfect.

I love it. It’s an indulgence for me. I guess I’m on the other end of the spectrum. Twizzlers are too hard for me.

Never tried them. I usually prefer the shoelace type of licorice. That reminds me I have to place an order.

Okay: I keep coming back to this because how can something that has no licorice flavor in it be called “licorice”?

“How many legs does a dog have?”
“Four.”
“What if we call his tail a leg; then how many legs does it have?”
“Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn’t make it one.”

Q: What is the definition of a Scottish gentleman?

A: Someone who knows how to play the bagpipes but doesn't play the bagpipes

Applying that concept to licorice, it seems that Wiley Wallaby is a bit of a gentleman Big Grin

Same with me. I prefer Red Vines, don't like Twizzler much either. Maybe once a year, I'll buy a pack and cut open one end and leave it for a few weeks until it gets stiff and chewy. It takes me a couple of weeks to eat it, and I get my red "licorice" fix for the year.

^^^^^^ When I was a kid you could buy 5 licorice whips for a penny. They left them in an open box on the shelf. I suppose they got pretty stale that way but now that’s how I like my licorice. I also prefer black licorice.

I miss Switzer’s black licorice bars that you peeled strips off of. My favorite black licorice ever.

Once you go black....

You haven't lived until you've had licorice ice cream.

I've tried the Classic Red, Blueberry-Pomegranate and the Lemonade. I've also heard the Watermelon is good, I'll have to try that next.

It is a little different than the typical stick licorice, but good for its type. More like the Australian Licorice of which I've had the Mango which was OK, didn't seem as flavorful as the Wallaby.

I've tried this in "black" licorice and really liked it.

I really enjoyed the small bits of black Twizzlers rather than the sticks, but I can't find them anymore.

I prefer the Panda brand. It has only a few ingredients, including licorice extract (and molasses syrup, wheat flour, aniseed oil). Sounds like it would be too soft for several of you guys, but it has great flavor.

I like it in black. However ever since I found the bulk bins at Winco, I get my licorice fix for $3.49/pound.
