After 10 years of consecutive new Samsung phones, it was time to jump ship. 7 years of Android updates, more RAM, better camera, etc.

Let me know what you think in a few days, I'm about ready to drop Samsung too

2 days so far. Transfer was easy and almost automatic. Some unneeded Samsung bloatware transfered with everything else. I just went through my apps and deleted what I didn't want. Obviously my Samsung tiles will no longer work, but they were free. Some apps that require passwords like Sigforum transfered with password intact, some didn't. Make sure you have access to your passwords if needed.

Really liking the phone, outstanding battery life, bigly RAM and 256mb storage. Many setup options which I'm still playing with. Backups are done automatically to Google Drive rather than using Samsung Smart Switch.

I have only used Google for back ups, shouldn't be a problem

I haven't updated my phone in going on 5 years. I'm still using a Galaxy S20. What made the switch away from Samsung necessary?

The switch wasn't necessary. The specifications of the new phone are better. Wife and I had same phones (Galaxy Z FLIP5 ). I wasn't 100% into the form factor and she didn't like hers. The only time her phone was folded was to put it in her pocket book, she never answered a call while it was folded. The "cover screen" was, for me, pretty unimpressive. Plus, no $ spent and no contract
