sigcrazy7I am now a card carrying member of the GoldWing club
Congratulations! I also just bought another Goldwing, a very nice 1978 with a factory Windjammer and Honda bags. I was looking for a 1975-77, but couldn’t pass up this one in near perfect condition. I’ve never been able to get my wife on the back of a bike, but she may take a trip on the Goldwing, although a 1978 isn’t the posh ride that yours will be. It will probably take a day to change my timing belts, and then I’ll be ready to see how it does.
They sure do have a low center of gravity. It makes a GW surprising nimble, feeling like a smaller bike. Al least the older ones do.

drill sgtIn about 2007/2008 ? Locally there was a very early Goldwing ( 4cylinder 1000cc) that was in very bad state of repair when the new owner replaced the fenders / gas tank / seat pan with hand made replacements out of diamond plate aluminum. Radiator over flow catch bottle was a small chocolate milk bottle. And several other mods. Sort of a modified bobber style. The first time seeing this bike I actually told the owner/rider that it was the ugliest bike ever made but I loved it and was willing to pay cash money if he would name the price. The owner rode the bike cross country to both coast and it was a real head turner. The name that was given by the owner was "The Emaculate Contraption" as her was a minister and chaplin for several bike groups. ................................ drill sgt.

ASKSmithInteresting review of the 2008 ‘Wing. Faster than a Sumo wrestler.
Still waiting on the bank to finalize things, but I think I’ve made a good decision...

OzarkwoodsCongrats you will love it. Had an 88 Goldwing the first year of the 1500, and reverse. I miss mine at times, but had to give it up because of my back injury effecting my left leg and foot.

I followed that guy on the Dragon once on my FZ1 that had some mods. I have a better than average skill set and I will say that I backed off the pace that he was setting about half way. I was getting tired and losing my groove. He knows that road and it is really long. I have ridden the Dragon probably 10 times and it is hard to memorize all the corners. There are better roads in the area and I prefer the flow of the Cherola Skyway. It was fun to watch him hustle that thing around the corners.

BelwolfCongrats, I recently picked up an '01 1800 and love it. Before I had an '86 aspencade 1200 which I regret I sold.
Enjoy.

You know I really liked that 1st gen Goldwings. I sure wished Honda would make a model like that again these days. They were simple and not to heavy yet had good very good road bike manners.
