There appears to be a miscommunication, and I think it was on Dave, though clearly unintentional. Creslin wrote Dave asking if he could help him out with a watch band, and Dave replied with the brands of watches he carries.

Seems like Dave read it as creslin was looking for a quality watch, to which his reply of the brands he carries was reasonable. But it appears to me that creslin was looking for a quality replacement watch band, and to him Dave’s reply was blowing him off.

From his response following Dave’s post with the email chain, Rey HRH also read it as looking for a watch. But Creslin clearly stated that he bought that watch and the band was falling apart and he wanted a quality band.

You're correct. He "clearly" stated he was looking for a watch band. But all that was covered up with the other words: "You're the authority on jewelry and watches and stuff," Historically, I've always bought cheap $25 watches and when they broke or whatever I would just ditch them and get a new" (he would get a new what? I read that as a new watch), "Three years ago I bought myself one of these" (puts a link to a watch), The band I have right now is all but in pieces. I'd like to get something quality that will last, Maybe some metal links or something like that. Much prefer color black" (Ir read that as now that he's ready to get a new watch, he wants a quality watch, not a band even though he did say at the start, he wants a new band).

Granted he said he needed a new watch band in the beginning. And his practice, when they broke, was to get a new one. His band is all but in pieces.

And it's not like I just skimmed through words; I actually studied the messages where the miscommunication happened and I still came away from thinking he wanted a new watch that will last and keep, not like the $25 watches he used to buy and discard.

And thanks for pointing that out that what was in Creslin's mind, Dave's mind, and my mind were not at all the same thing.

Even then, or especially then, since I've bought NATO watches, asking for help for a watch band needs even more initial input. Dave would need a width measurement of the strap that fits the watch.

"Hey, Dave, I would like your help in getting some ammo. I used to get round nose but now I prefer hollow points."

"Ummm,... what caliber?"

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Creslin did state the model number of the watch and include a link. I didn’t know, but in googling it the watch is over $1000. He said I need a good quality band for this watch.

I’m just saying that reading what creslin wrote I can understand how Dave’s response appeared to blow him off, but I have no doubt that it was not intentional. Dave can speak for himself, but I must assume that if he realized that creslin was looking for a band and not a new watch he would have responded differently.

Dave has spent more time replying to my messages than I can pay him for. He’s always gone above and beyond to help him even if no business came his way (read that as decided not to spend money, I’m not going elsewhere for my business)

He’s helped my wife rewrite and redesign her ring and since she’s happy I am happy. His wearing and two rings I’ve bought from him have been excellent and he even replaced a lost stone with no questions asked. I’d go to war for or with Dave. Any perceived slight was surely a misunderstanding as the way a man does the most menial task is how he tends to do all tasks.
