Question about Uship.
Are the carriers that contact you about your shipment all insured to carry my freight? If they are in an accident and my cargo is destroyed is it insured so I am paid its value (my purchase price)?Does Uship require its members to carry this kind of insurance?

Yes they require insurance.

You should still verify your carrier is insured.

Your shipment's value is not necessary related to what you paid for it, so you may be required to purchase supplemental insurance to cover your bases. Most freight is insured based on its classification and weight. In my line of work the classification that safes and vaults fall within are insured for a few dollars a pound. That works fine with regular safes, but wouldn't cover one of my $40,000 vault doors that weighs 1,000 pounds.

I've had pretty good luck with U-ship dealing with individual shippers, not so much with their broker side.
