Tire recommendation for a Honda CRV?
My exwife is pestering me to tell her what kind of tires to get.
For decades I go to Discount Tire and buy Michelins for my Impalas.
Before I go searching for tires, Maybe I could get some good response here from members for all season tires.
Thanks in advance!

We caught a Michelin sale at Discount Tire to put new all-season tires on our Q3. Got the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4s, been very happy with their ride quality and performance.

Look at the Nokian Encompass AW02 tire. The tread pattern looks pretty radical, but it works. I've talked to a couple of people who put them on their vehicle and they are impressed with the tire so far.

More city, highway or combo driving?
Down here in Florida I use Pirelli Scorpion - very good all weather but we don’t go off road and don’t deal with snow. Great in wet weather. Good noise reduction. Usually have a deal somewhere. We usually get great mileage out of them as well.

I would look at Nokian or Falkens. I am not a Michelin fan.

My method is to read the test results from www.tirerack.com. For example, a General Altimax RT43 was tested and rated very highly. It was so much cheaper than the Michelin. I used that tire for years on cars. No issues.

You can also look at any tire on that site and simply check "would you buy this tire again?" statistics for that tire. If the user base is tens of thousands of buyers, and >90% would buy it again, you know the answer.

Yep. I just put Pirelli Scorpion AS 3 tires on my CRV a couple months ago.

I've been impressed with them on my CX-5, and they were on sale, so over a hundred bucks cheaper than most of the other comparable options.

The other tire I was considering was the Yokohama CTX. I had those on an earlier Forester and they performed well.

Just bought a set of Falkens for my rig. Discount tire had a 80.00 off coupon so took advantage of that. This will be my second set since I only do local driving and with my vehicle. My first set I bought in 2018 and they held up very well.

Thanks for the replies. Perellies sound good.
I don't care about price, She can spend some of that six figure check I gave her in the divorce.

I had the PS AS3+ on our Flex & they are a fantastic AS tire.
I also had Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS on my Mercedes C300. Not quite as amazing, but 85-90% of the tire for $3-400 less.

Had the Pirelli Scorpion on my Explorer & didn't care for them nearly as much. Fine for normal driving, but as they wore I didn't like how they handled wet weather.

Southwest Ohio, not much snow. But she is an idiot driver. When I rode with her , I just closed my eyes, speeding, tailgaiting, 40 mph through our subdivision with children playing.
Not to mention, whoever drove the car controlled the radio, Ugh, I don't like country music!!

Likely AWD, the CRV hugs the road well. I ‘assume’ she’s paying for the tires?

Those Michelin ‘Cross Climate’ have been all the rage the last few years.

The last three seats of tires I have bought for my daughters SUVs are Uniroyal Tiger Paws. Reasonable price, ride great and last

Cross Climates are great if you want to focus primarily on rain/light snow performance.

But they suffer in other areas, like ride quality and especially longevity.

That's what was on my CRV when I inherited them. If I lived in an area with frequent rain like Seattle, or frequent snow like the mid to upper Midwest, I'd definitely consider them.

But they were overkill for the weather in my area, and only lasted like 25k-30k miles.

I put tires on my CR-V about a year ago. Went with Michelin Defender 2. Been happy with them. We don't get much snow anymore, so that wasn't an issue, and the Defender is an all-season vehicle and OK in snow. My main concern was a good tire with good all-around traction and quiet. Noise was a big consideration since I didn't need anything with enhanced grip on anything but a road.

If you live somewhere that gets alot of snow and that is a consideration, the Michelin Cross Climate is better in the snow and rain but comes at the cost of more road noise.

^^^ I'm with comet. Last January I got a set of Defender 2's for my CR-V. Happy with them. On previous CR-V's, I also had Defenders.

Thanks for the replies. I've have Michelin defenders on two of my Impalas.
I wrote down many of the tires recommended.
I'll ask discount tire, but it's her money.
She never listened to any of my advise for thirty years, now she wants it. Ugh, I still love her.

If she has a Costco membership their price is hard to beat.

We both have Costco memberships. I always forget that they sell tires. Discount Tire is five minutes from my house. She can come back to my house and bitch at me until her car is ready!!
