She's been offline for about 2 years and wants to boot up her old web book. She can't remember her password so I can't change it for her. It logs her in in reboot but I can't do any admin stuff without her password. It's windows 8 which is frustrating enough.

What is my next step? I've used Hiren's boot cd before but there's no cd drive. Hmmm

You could try Ophcrack if the password wasn't too complex it should be able to come up with it fairly quickly.

Call email parent. My wife had to reset and could not do it online because they wanted to send to email and cannot log on.

In her case, it was Yahoo, customer service walked her through it although they had to try couple different directions.
