I suppose I don't see what the big deal is. I would think that anything odd or out of the ordinary is going to attract attention like this. If the guy had 6 toes and the nurses looked into the body bag to see it for themselves, would they get into trouble?

Exactly this. The "issue" itself was a big, fat, nothingburger. The reprimands they got are stupid, but typical of big companies. No one was harmed, nothing bad happened. It's all, well, stupid.

I could swing either way on this. What if the dead person was a woman and they were admiring her breasts? On the other hand, I'm thinking I want to be the dead guy. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I think that if someone's privacy is being violated just for curiosity sake then it is unprofessional, unethical and yes should be punished. Should the nurses be allowed to sell tickets and hold a private showing, or bring in their boyfriends and girlfriends for a gander? Should male nurses be allowed to "check out" the abnormally large breasts, or artful ladyscaping on a beautiful cadaver? If the viewing of the body is done in a professional way, in the interest of science or furtherance of the medical profession then maybe. Preferably with family consent.

Imagine if the guy's mother or other family member heard all of this. How do you think they might feel? In this society, we don't treat the dead this way, and this goes double for people who are supposed to be health professionals.

Once you are dead, you are stripped of your clothing and will be seen in all of your glory by several people. Those who prep you, those who store you, those who perform an autopsy, those at the funeral home, etc. Every single health care professional I know is very fascinated by abnormalities. Unusual injuries or unusual anatomy is spoken about regularly. I can't speak firsthand, and I have only heard about these things from my friends. Another medical professional recounted a similar story earlier in this thread. Perhaps some others will chime in with their first hand observations. It would be one thing to be taking photos and texting them to your friends (this may have even been the topic of a previous discussion here). I think looking is much more common that you believe it is.

I think your purpose in making this type of accusation is to trigger an argument. I speak my mind. Those are my honest thoughts. Seems I'm not alone either.

It probably is more common that we might think. But it is still improper, and the sort of thing that will get the public and family upset. Understandably so - we treat the dead with an extra measure of deference. If the viewing is just to satisfy one's curiosity and has no medical justification, the viewers can be expected to sanctioned if they are caught. Especially when it has sexual overtones, which is even more taboo. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.
