Help to ident ammo
These are 200rd battle packs of 7.62x39mm. They are very dark green/black and only state: "200 cartridges 762x39"

Trying to do a trade maybe. Trying to figure out if it's corrosive, brass/steel etc.

Any info appreciated.

Iranian, via the Balkans. Brass cased, berdan primed, and (reportedly) non-corrosive.

Ammo clandestinely sent by Iran in the early/mid 90s to help their Muslim brethren in the civil wars after the fall of Yugoslavia. Sold off by one Balkan state or another on the surplus market in the mid-2000s.

Sold by various online dealers back then as "mystery ammo", with some guessing that it was Portuguese or South African, which it isn't. Most have sterile headstamps, with just a date code. A few have identifiable Farsi headstamps.

The sterile headstamps and packaging was to allow Iran deniability.

Is there any writing on the bags to identify them?

Found some other posts on the interwebs. A few hit the Iranian nail on the head but a lot of Port and S.A. red herrings.

I'm just hoping it's not corrosive.
