Shit don't mean shit |
I am looking for some advice for my sister, who is having trouble filing for Unemployment Insurance (UI) after being furloughed. She has worked in NJ for her entire life. Back in Aug 2019 she voluntarily quit her job in NJ to start her own business. She tried from mid August to Mid December to do her own thing, but it didn't work out. In December 2019 she went back to a regular job, but just over the NJ border in NY state. She was furloughed from her NY job 2 weeks ago. She filed for UI in NY, but just received a letter that she did not work there long enough, so she does not qualify for NY UI. I told her to file a claim in NJ. However, she is reasonably sure that her former employer in NJ will deny the claim as she left voluntarily. She is going to file in NJ, but she doesn't know what else to do. Anyone have advice on what she should do? Is she screwed because she took a job in NY? | ||
