I believe my father has her rollbar (from her 356), installed in his ‘64.

Poor Janis. She was definitely not destined for a long life. She would be in her late 70's now and I can't picture Janis as a grandmother.

When I was in the Army in 1970-71, it seemed like "Me & Bobby McGee" played almost every morning at breakfast in the mess hall. One of those songs that still triggers memories of that time in my life whenever I hear it.

I’ve always been enamored with her voice. So much emotion and feeling. Check out “Ball and Chain” by Big Brother & the Holding Company, I love that one.

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz? My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.

I will never forget her singing Ball and Chain at Monterey Pop in 1967, and again somewhere in Socal in 1968.

Janis Joplin pretty much symbolized both the craziness and the talent of the sixties. She was something all right.

Do a search and look for Pinks rendition of "Me and Bobby Mcgee"....one of the best.

Makes you wonder what would have happened if she had lived.
Still a star? Retired and forgotten? Playing nostalgia shows at casinos?
We'll never know.

In my last ride thru Texas, I saw the billboard on I-10 near Port Arthur pointing the direction to Janis Joplin Museum.

Sadly, I didn't have time to visit.
