coloradohunter44Yellow Knife Canada in June
Hey gang, anyone spent any time up their? We are supposed to take a group up on a fishing trip third week of June. I may get stuck there for a week and thought I’d see if anyone here has knowledge of the area. I may be able to do some fishing I hope. I’ll look it up on the net, but firsthand knowledge trumps that. Thx gang.

bushpilotFlew helicopters in and out of YK and the mosquitoes and no-see-ums are pretty bad. Get head nets and wide brimmed hats to keep them out of your eyes and ears. Long sleeve shirts are good as well. Otherwise, pretty country.
Remind me to tell you how I got a busted nose just by walking into the restaurant after flying all day.

tatortoddThe weather looks pretty similar to Talkeetna, AK (nearly identical Latitude), with normal highs in low 60s and normal lows in mid 40s. Of course, that far north it can hit the 90s or the 20s so it means packing your bags so you're able to dress in layers. Also, looks like it rains 1/3 of the days (not much accumulation so it's likely similar to the mist and light rains in South Central AK) and snow is possible in June.
If it were me, I'd pack like I was going camping and fishing in South Central Alaska in June which means that most likely the group will want to keep doing activities when it's misting and lightly raining since it rains so often. This means packing breathable rain gear (non-breathable rain gear sucks for doing activities in), dressing in layers, good waterproof boots, mosquito head nets, light water resistant gloves, have duct tape along for where different clothing items meet.
