My best friend, who is in her 40s, has been through it.

She has always been very active. She loves to fish, do yard work, and even had a small home renovation business on the side. She began to have crippling fatigue and joint pain. It was all she could do to go to work and come home and crawl in the bed. I've known her since we were freshman in college and I've never seen her exhausted and in pain to that extent.

As is somewhat common, it took a while for the doctors to diagnose her with it. She had to be very persistent.

It has taken over a year for her to get back into her normal range of activity. She now has psoriatic arthritis that she has to get infusions for. Her insurance made her go through several cheaper treatment options for the arthritis before finally approving whatever medication she is on now.

In short, it was a hellish experience between the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and the arthritis. I hope your cousin has gotten faster treatment for the Lyme disease and doesn't wind up with any autoimmune problems like arthritis.

I am glad you brought then arthritis issue up , as I had Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted fever at the same time 2 years ago. I was treated, but the doctors told me, that I will always test positive for Both in the future.

Lately , I have been having symptoms similar to a bad cold, and more critical, arthritic pain in my hands and left shoulder. I have an appointment with the doctor that treated my Lyme disease , on the 19th, I am going to pursue the symptoms I am having with my doctor.

I have also felt very fatigued lately, but am not running a fever. They will dismiss me being re infected with Lyme if I don't have a fever.
