Spending lots of time at my grandparents/aunts/uncles in Boone IA I got to know the Lincoln Highway/Hwy.30 a lot. Still a lot of posts in central/western IA still painted red, white, and blue w/ the L on it. I am sure in other parts of the country it is the same. In the town of Boone the Lincoln Highway is named Mamie Eisenhower Ave. for the former First Lady that grew up there.

On the 100 year anniversary of Dwight Eisenhower taking a military convoy across the country on that highway my son and I, along w/ some of my re-enactments buddies took some WWII jeeps on a portion of it in a convoy of old military vehicles traveling across the country. A great time.
