'No exhaust and exceptionally stealthy, the Zero MMX holds unique tactical advantages over traditional internal combustion alternatives. The 100% electric powertrain offers personnel the ability to rapidly move over technical terrain while making virtually no noise and emitting no smell. Perhaps the most covert form of two-wheeled transportation, the motorcycle is completely silent when stopped and can accelerate instantly from 0 rpm.

Using Zero Motorcycles’ industry-leading Z-Force® powertrain the Zero MMX features quick swappable power packs, direct drive gearing and an air cooled motor. With no transmission, powertrain fluids or gas the Zero MMX is also easy to transport and maintain.'

The bike is 15K and not available except for GSA government contract.

Maybe in a couple of years.

Looks like a Zero bike. Ok yeah it is! Good choice for going places very quietly. Those things are torque monsters and will wheelie for days with no effort. Cool They are expensive but have some really cool tech onboard.

The competitors Talaria and Surron are making bikes for $3000-4500 that are inching closer and closer to Zero’s performance without that big price tag. Smile Talaria came out swinging with their most recent ebike as it performs on par with the Surron X but was initially offered at a lower price and sold out in hours.

That Zero is probably the equivalent of a Suzuki DRZ400. The Talaria and Surron X are closer to 125-250CC dirt bikes although they are getting more power every year and their aftermarket support is bonkers.

The cafe racer and design exercises I’ve seen online make me think a Surron X would be a fun bike to play around with as far as a super lightweight street bike.

Not a bad idea to ditch that helmet for a full face on a bike like that. My ebike sent me for a short flight over the bars two weeks ago and my helmet took a hit to the front and top as I tumbled end over end. Thank God I was wearing my full face Troy Lee Designs downhill racing helmet.

Getting old sucks. I’m just now getting back to feeling 100%.

How does one charge an E-Bike in a war zone? $15M government contracted charging station flown in on a C-17?

Each E-Bike is equipped with a hand charger. It only takes 5 hours of cranking and you're good for another 20 miles.

Hayzoos Christo look at the size of the sprocket on the bike in the original post! It's approaching the bead size of the rear tire.

E-bikes my friend!! (StarWars emperor voice) “now witness the power of this fully operational battle station 65 tooth sprocket!”

It’s truly mind blowing my friend. And I’m only just beginning to meddle in building high voltage e-bikes. Big Grin

LMAO. I daily an EV and will be moving rural, hopefully in 2-5 years. Land I bought borders national forest and I’m buying a MX. It will not be EV powered. A ham fist will deplete the battery fast on the EV bikes. I’ve ridden all the Zero motorcycles as my dealership sells them alongside Yam and Honda. The quoted range is about like my car, under ideal conditions granny driving/riding, you can get X range. Yeah like you are going to ride like that on a MX, especially in theater. It’s laughable. EV’s are great for a daily driver hatchback car. Or an E bike you are going to ride around your domicile or tow to an off-road place to ride and just deal with it when your primary and spare cells are depleted. Sport riding is completely out.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

My local bike shop was telling me today about how one of their customers brought in a home built 72V mid drive e-bike that used a Trek mountain bike as the base for the build.

These guys have ridden my electric builds so when one of my favorite people there told me he hit 45 mph in the parking lot I realized I need to build a mid drive or maybe a dual motor with a mid drive and rear hub motor.

Hub motors are great for cruising and sipping juice slowly. I think a mid drive would offer vastly different performance as it utilizes the bikes drive train and gears. Yes, it adds a ton of wear to the chain, chainring and cassette but I am curious to build both and see how they perform against each other.

That would be a fun thing to compare as a video on YouTube. I should probably do that.

These things are truly mind blowing. It’s more like a motorcycle than it is a mountain bike but they don’t attract nearly the unwanted attention that a dirt bike gets.

I don’t know about electric cars but there is a VERY compelling argument to be made for electric mountain bikes. They are sooooooooo much fun.
