Thanks. I went to the Mobile Passport website and tried to figure out how much it costs. You would expect this question might be answered on the "FAQ" page, as I would think it would be frequently asked. But no.....

Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.

Very annoying. I see this on websites for many apps -- pricing information is very hard to find, if it's even on the website.

They want to pull you in with the free version, and then upsell you.

I googled and found this: https://www.nerdwallet.com/art...passport-control-app.

Here's a quote re the cost:

Mobile Passport users can pay a $14.99 annual fee (or $4.99 monthly fee) for the ad-free, premium Mobile Passport plus version to have details like passport number and expiration date and a personal photo saved within the app. Otherwise, you have to spend a few extra minutes entering that information each time you use the app.

The Mobile Passport link I provided on July 2 is no longer what you want. It looks like this is where you now get the app, it's free.

State Department plans to widely open online passport renewal system in 2023

Caroline Tanner
Sept. 26, 2022

If you’ve been putting off renewing your U.S. passport, you can soon avoid the logistical hassle of having to mail or bring in your physical passport and supporting documents.

Starting early next year, the U.S. Department of State plans to expand its current pilot program to give Americans the option to widely renew passports online. This follows successful pilot programs limited to a certain number of applicants.

Since its initial launch — which the agency opened up to 25,000 applicants on a first-come, first-served basis earlier this year — the department has since conducted limited pilot programs for more people; it expects to continue programs throughout 2022, with the next one in October.

As of Sept. 17, the online portal is temporarily closed until at least mid-October, when the department expects to begin resuming online applications...

Considering how many people that got passports issued for the first time over the last 10-years, the crush for renewals is just starting to heat-up.

Which reminds me mine expires next May...

Our next out-of-country trip isn't until next July; however, the wife is starting the process to renew her passport now.

Some countries require visitors to have no less than 6-months remaining until their passports have expired.

I believe the earliest you can renew is 9-months in-advance of your expiration.

would they take a black and white print or does it need to be in color?
