I was laying in bed mid morning when the phone rang and it was my daughter asking if I would like to go to Tulsa to have a big, steaming bowl of pho at my favorite, go to Vietnamese joint , Viet Huong.

Well, the answer was obviously yes. My wife was not feeling well and she declined , but my daughter and I set out on a fifty mile drive in quest of that big bowl of wonderfulness, pho!

My regular joint is a mom and pop establishment I have been going to since 1989, same location, same owner, same people, it never changes. When I first start going to this restaurant, I bought typical Chinese food, but noticed I was the only person in the place eating that. Everyone else was having this big bowl of beef noodle soup that they were dumping their salad into! The owner finally convinced me to try the pho, and I have never had anything else there since then. I also am addicted to their Vietnamese iced coffee which is a dark, New Orleans style coffee served about half and half over about a half can of sweetened condensed milk and ice. OMG! Eek It is a coffee drink made in heaven. (I am surprised Starbucks has not put it in bottles yet?

If any of you are ever in Tulsa, this is a go to place. Viet Huong. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Sh...-Tulsa_Oklahoma.html

That made me hungry.

Discovered the goodness of Pho 2 years ago.

Luckily for me, Philly has a ton of Pho places, especially South Philly, which has a large Vietnamese population now.

For a few months this past winter, I made it a point to try 1 or 2 new pho places each week. I had to ease back because all those noodles were making me gain some inches around the waist. I did find my go to Pho spots though.

Definitely one of the upsides of hard working immigrants is their food they bring with them. Growing up in San Jose CA we had a huge Vietnamese immigrant/ refugee population since the 70s and early 80s. Been enjoying bahn mi sammiches and good pho since the 80s. There's a few places I like to go to. And those particular immigrants are busting their asses and working hard and if you get to know them and talk to them off the record they will tell you their opinion of people on welfare for generations. Most fled hard core communism and know what's up with leftists. Most make great Americans

I still can't deal with the tripe or tendon. Usually get rare beef and beef ball and add ahealthy squirt of sriracha sauce

Vietnamese people came to Houston by the boatload. The climate is familiar to them.

As a result, we have a lot of good Vietnamese food, including pho.

I'll have to get some for lunch soon.

Not for me until somebody proves otherwise and telling me it's good is not enough. I'd have to sample some and they better not stick a bowl of smelly nastininess in front of me.

Charlie, when my wife isn't feeling well, I actually go get her some pho. They pack the meat separately and the vegetables separate from the stew water.

It's either that or wor wonton soup.

We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual."
