The momentum for bashing the F-35 is running out of steam now that 1000 units are now flying with many more to come. News media outlets trying to put out negative articles without providing any perspective are relying on old talking points and digging for something to chew on.

Nobody is going to say it was a smooth sailing program nor a format to replicate for future programs. While Full Rate Production has been authorized this year, the Block 4 models are having their complications and it's just another in a line of issues for LockMart to work out. Was this an overly ambitious program...no doubt about it, however I've yet to meet anybody who flies in uniform who isn't impressed with the capabilities and potential that this platform can do.

Here is another source for you to evaluate Big Grin
from 2021 that reaches almost the same conclusion.

Pentagon Says Only Half of Its F-35 Jet Fleet Is Mission-Ready

I rate this source: As shitty as the original article..

Man you are more of an expert than the Air Force General who was quoted in the article. Eek

You seem to be under the impression that I disagree with the statistics in the article. I do not. The presentation on the other hand is disingenuous, shitty, and upholds the standards of poor journalism.

Your snarky remark without rebutting any of the the compare & contrast facts presented in my first post or addressing the reasonable questions in my second post leads me to believe that you are being deliberately obtuse.

You have a nice day and I'll move on from this thread.

This a a great view of the entire fleet of aircraft in the US military inventory. 2011-2021 only 5 of the listed 13 tactical fighter aircraft met their FMC goals over an 11 year period and none of them for more than 3 years total. And the F-35 was 2 of the 5!
