sdyMarthy McSally appointed to Senate seat formerly held by McCain
https://www.foxnews.com/politi...-arizona-senate-seatRepublican Rep. Martha McSally, just weeks after losing one of the midterms' tightest and most contentious Senate races, was appointed by Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey on Tuesday to fill the state’s other U.S. Senate seat.
McSally will serve for at least the next two years in the seat that was held by longtime Arizona Sen. John McCain until his death in August.
Ducey had appointed former Sen. Jon Kyl to the seat in September, but Kyl, after serving for several months, announced plans to resign at the end of the year. According to Ducey’s office, Kyl’s resignation will be effective Dec. 31.
McSally was defeated by Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema in this year’s midterm election for the seat held by retiring GOP Sen. Jeff Flake. Her appointment means she will now serve alongside her opponent, something Ducey noted in his statement.
McSally will serve until the 2020 election, when voters will elect someone to serve the final two years of McCain's term.

nighthawkHeard the McCain’s are not real happy about that, that “They” did not want her. I guess they figured they owned the seat.

I was a little on the fence about the choice, but now I'm fully behind it if the McCaiin's aren't.

Me too.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

TigerDoreThe will of the Arizona people was only partially thwarted in November. McSally still becomes a Senator.
When you consider The Flake and the other Flake that held the AZ Senate offices until this year, this is still net gain of one seat.

Il CattivoAs well as two years to solidify the grip on one seat and mount a better challenge for the next seat. That's unfortunately the same opportunity the Flakers have, but here's hoping the Arizona GOP makes better use of the two years.

ChicagoSigManShe is not as conservative as I would like, but I was initially impressed with her because of her background. I do have to say though that she ran a pretty ineffective and lackluster campaign. I hope she is able to improve in 2020.

Around here she was called: Martha McSilent. She refused requests for Radio/TV interviews. Maybe now, she'll wise up.
Too bad the TuTu wearing Socialist won the November Senate election, but we are getting rid of the FLAKE.

As a Senator, yes. But I predict he'll join John Kasich and Bob Corker as a power trio replacing John McCain as "moderate Republicans willing to reach across the aisle." Naturally, the media will give them lots of air time as they ponder a primary challenge to Trump.
