Anyone try the Johnsonville indoor grill?
Has anyone tried this grill yet? Kind of like a George Foreman thing, with plates for sausage. Curious if it works for times you cant fire up the outdoor grill?

I don't understand when this would be. I have cooked in an actual hurricane warning, 15 degree temps as well as with tornado siren going off (granted with live radar pulled up!). Not all at the same time.

It looks interesting in that there are different size inserts so you can maybe get some sear on different size dogs. I guess if I was feeding an army of kids it might make sense, but I would definitely read the reviews on cleanup - seems that could be a real challenge.

There's a difference in a warning and the actual hurricane going over the top of your house LOL.

Looks like just another appliance to clutter up you're kitchen and take up space. Breakfast sausage is done in the pan when at home and if up on the lake it gets done outside on the griddle. Brats are on the grill or in the smoker. I have done other sausages like polish, keilbasa in bite size pieces and pan fried and then served with a pretzel stick as a appetizer could do the same with brats.

Too many ways to get the job done without adding a purpose specific appliance to do it.

Sounds like one of those things you get for a wedding gift, this years bread maker.

Now having said that we were one of those who wore out 2 bread maker pans before we got bored with it.

Hmmm, opinions from those who haven't used one??

Ever have a Johnsonville Brat that didn't have the skin punctured? You've never had a better brat!
This appliance makes sure the skin doesn't burst - tough to do on a grill without standing there the entire time. I love my Johnsonville Brat Grill!

Will they grill hot dogs? I don't eat Brats but do eat a lot of hot dogs (bun size beef dogs). I've been broiling them in my oven and browning the buns there, too.

I do not believe the regular or Plus are designed to cook hotdogs.

The Plus will do breakfast sausage links and patties though.

Of course I’ve got one Smile
I’m in Wisconsin after all.

When it’s -20F outside, I’d much rather do them inside than outside.

It does cook brats perfectly, and Italian sausage as well. Just place them in, close the top, and hit the button to turn it on. About 12~15 minutes later, it beeps and shuts off. It cooks to temp with a probe in the middle ‘wurst.

Works best with Johnsonville brand sausages, as they’re the perfect length for the tray inside. I’ve also used Klements and Usinger’s in there (couple other WI brands), and I kinda have to mold them to fit in the tray.

If you can get a fat enough hot dog that the probe fits into the middle of it, it could work, but I’ve never tried.

It's not too cold when the Chiefs are playing ! Brats and beer on the deck watching the game on the flatscreen in a snowstorm, that's a Chiefs fan for you !!

Over kill for just us two,

Plus, we have bacon one day,ham another, paddies next week and links the next.

And we only use one skillet or griddle.

On a related topic, does anyone have trouble finding Johnsonville sausages?

Some time ago I discovered how much I like their “Stadium Brats,” and then found that my local tiny “supermarket” was usually out along with the other varieties. At first I just attributed that to the fact that the store has always had a terrible stock management problem (long before the pandemic), but then I started checking the other stores in a 60 mile radius, including much larger ones, and the same was true of them: Once in a while it was possible to find the “cheddar brats,” but anything else? Nope, and that’s been true locally for at least three weeks.

I don’t know if they sell out immediately or if it’s a supply problem exacerbated by the other meat shortage deal, but those shelves are always bare.

We have one. It is not possible to grill a brat as perfectly as the Johnsonville device. It's quick, easy and cleans up super fast; very well designed and the upper and lower plates pop in the dish washer. When the wind is howling and it's 0F outdoors this is our go to brat cooker.

Brat's come out PERFECT every.single.time. Bonus: it stores on edge so it doesn't take up much space.

I live in an apartment and we aren’t allowed to have grills. They have community ones but the closest one isn’t close to my apartment.
