People take this kind of thing seriously. It's mind boggling to me that some nitwit can make some stupid remark about how it hurts his feelings that the owner of an NBA franchise is called an owner so now we have to pretend that they are 'governors' and not owners? There's not an Roll Eyes big enough to express my contempt for such nonsense and the morons who cowtow to it.

NBA commissioner says league moved away from the term ‘owner’

Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner, said in an interview published Monday that the league has moved away from the term “owner” and said they are now referred to as governors.

Silver was stopped in New York by TMZ and said he is “sensitive” to the term owner. TMZ reported earlier that few NBA teams have dropped the term because of its racial component and since most of the players in the league are black.

“You shouldn’t say owner,” Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green said on HBO last year.

Silver pointed to the Green interview and said that he “completely respects” his opinion on the matter.

He did say that some players took pride when Michael Jordan was able to call himself an owner and said players have generally gone “both ways” on the issue.

TMZ Sports initially reported that the league was having discussions over nixing the term because of its racial connotations.

A quick glance at each team’s staff directories listed on their official websites showed about 15 organizations do not list an owner.

Maybe they should be called Boers, like the repressive white landowner farmers in South Africa?
Then the "players" can chant "Kill the Boer!"... on the court, during the national anthem.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

What virtue signaling crap. Is the NBA trying to catch up with the NFL in regards to going full retard?

I had a similar reaction this year when the MLB changed the long standing DL (disabled list) to the IL (injured list) to be more respectful of people with disabilities. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

NBA can go to hell but it's been there since Jordan retired the second time. Nothing but a bunch of entitled morons. It's about as believable as the WWF. I'm pretty convinced the league is fixed in order to garner ratings. Guys teaming up with each other to stack teams is so bush league. Remember when guys wanted to beat the best in order to become the best?

Considering Egyptians owned more slaves than Americans ever did, why ain't the Jewish players up in arms about this?

Seems like we should start calling the owners pimps and the players hoes. Fits in perfectly well with the current street vernacular too!
