Sorry to hear about Snickers, Fredward.

If you like religion, laws or sausage, then you shouldn't watch them being made.

Thank you. He used to sleep on Skippy, my terrier, back. She had no fear of man nor beast.

I don't understand why I am so tore up. I didn't cry this much for my parents or grandparents or any human. Of course, they mostly sucked and Snick didn't. I'm just old, I guess. I don't understand why I'm crying over a cat when, in truth, well, no specifics, but I have, uh, deployed deadly force more than once effectively without much emotional upheaval. Crying over a cat strikes me as.....odd.

That's just the way we're built. I know, because I reacted the same way when I lost pets, crying more for them than my own parents.

It has something to do with the unconditional love they give us, best I can figure. Relationships with humans always involve compromising, which creates distance, but our pets just accept us, and we accept them.

I know there's got to be more to it than that, but it's a place to start understanding how we feel, then accepting how we react.

Fredward, I'm sorry to hear this...loosing a furry family member is a hard thing. They add so much to our lives. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry for your loss. We lost our daughter's kitten last night. Would have been 4 months next week. Not sure why I am misting. Is it for the kitten or my four year old that I have to tell in a couple hours?

I never thought pets could find emotions I didn't know were there.

I don't think it is odd at all. Nor do I understand it, but I was at the same place not too many months ago when my sweet Corgi girl had her stroke and I rushed her to the clinic where they could not help. I held her in my lap while she was euthanized, and I cried for a couple of days. I still feel strong emotions when I think about that.

You really need to be able to recognize that it would have been cruel to let Snickers suffer. She is at peace now and you are feeling a huge empty spot in your heart.

Sorry Fredward, 20 years is a long time for a cat, but I'm sure not long enough for you. May she be in eternal comfort now and be free of her pain and ailments.

RIP

So sorry to hear this Fredward, as I can relate.

My man Bob had to be put down earlier this year, and he was on his way to 21 years.
