Motorcycle chase, Brazilian police style
Several years ago, I ran across a police motorcycle chase somewhere in Scandinavia which I thought was pretty epic.

This vintage chase from Brazil could easily be used in an action movie. It's a miracle that neither rider wrecked out.

Wow, that was quite a ride... stair-climbing and all! Eek

That stair-climb was something and he managed to keep his flip-flops on while doing it.

He seemed to have a sixth-sense which kicked in each time the motor man got real close to him. Some of those 90 degree turns and especially the 180 were amazing.

Man. Both those dudes have serious skills; it was like a real life scene from a Bond movie.

Great ride! And I want to know what kind of bike the cop was on. The cop rode smart. He hung back when he needed to and powered up when the time was right.

I rode police motorcycles for a couple of years back in the mid-1970s, full-dress Harleys until we transitioned to Kawasaki 900 and 1000 models. Major city police department, heavy traffic all the time.

Every day at least one close call. Had to lay the bike down a couple of times. My final day was a Sunday, day shift, by 10AM I had 3 near death experiences. Took the bike back to the station, dropped the keys on the shift commander's desk, begged him to give me a car to drive.

Never got into motorcycles again until about 2000, bought a 1200cc Screaming Eagle Sportster, rode that for a couple of years. Then traded up to a Dyna SuperGlide 88 cu. in. Sold that in 2008 and never looked back. No more motorcycles for this old man.

My advice for all motorcycle riders: spend every moment anticipating how the other drivers on the road will try to kill you.

My advice for the Brazilian cops: Hire that young guy to teach pursuit driving courses.

If the speedo was registering mph, he was pushing 90 at times! That was one tenacious officer.

Wonder what kind of time the driver caught for that stunt. Great driving skills for the motor Officer.

Those roads were pretty bumpy and some of the alleys were like offroading. I was amazed at the speed they traveled.

I ride a cruiser and that ride would've been brutal with 4.7" front and 3.0" rear suspension travel. From the YouTube comments, it looks like Brazilian LEOs ride either Yamaha's dual sport 250 or Honda's dual sport 300. Both have about 9 inches of front and rear suspension travel.

Kudos to the officer for his riding skills and professionally cuffing the perp.
