Does Anyone Still Celebrate Their OWN Birthday?
I tire of the questions about where I want to go, what do I want to do, and what do I want. It took years for my wife and kids to realize I just want to stay home and do nothing. If you want to buy me a meal, the two dollar burgers at Mickey D’s are my favorite. They are not a dollar anymore. If I want something I just go buy it myself.
Birthdays are important to a lot of people and I do cater to that. At work my employees got their birthday off. Amazing how much it was appreciated.

That is one thing I do like about having apps for restaurants! Free birthday food you can use within a few weeks. I got notifications from Whataburger, Jimmy John’s, Jersey Mike’s, etc will all my free meal rewards!

It's about other people celebrating your BD, not about you celebrating your own BD. Celebrating one's own BD is dumb, afaic.

I guess I could have worded it better. It is just another day for me and I don’t care for the fuss. I did make my wife and I a nice steak dinner.

My birthday is over the holidays so I'm typically visiting Dad or he's visiting me. End up doing out for dinner with Dad, his SO, and my SO. I pick the restaurant, and Dad buys.

Well if marking the day with a glass of my favorite bourbon and a "best" level cigar counts.

Wife makes me a mocha torte every year, same as my mother always did. And cooks whatever i request for dinner.

Just turned 60 last week

Worked 1/2 the day. Relaxed at the house. Wife was working

sat in my shop, drank a beer and a couple jamesons. Asleep by 10

We went out to dinner tonight. Nothing crazy or fancy. Just a good dinner. Her birthday is tomorrow so we will go have another dinner someplace

my wife and I will go to dinner, sometimes, but mostly for her birthday,

my birthday seems to fall on a weekend I have a big gunshow, so pack on Thur, drive up and have the show Fri, Sat, Sun, and unpack on Monday,

so I may treat myself to a few beers or buy a bottle of bourbon and have a few drinks in the hotel,

one year I did meet a fellow gunshow friend (he has tables as well) and he bought me a Guinness, at the hotel bar,

otherwise, we (wife and I) just chill,

I did surprise her with a nice vintage ring this year,

Yep. My first vacation request is the week of my birthday and it always involves a very nice dinner with a lot of very nice whiskey (and whisky) from one of my favorite places in town.

However, there's no dress up, no cards, and no decorations. All the money saved not doing that is put into dinner.

Nope this ended years ago when I told the wife I just wanted to stay home and have a nice steak dinner, but instead she invited all the friends and family over, it didn't go over well to say the least and I havent had one since which is my preference. I like to go off shore fishing for salmon and that's what I do every year.

I usually go out to dinner with some family and friends.

Usually a few cocktails and a nice steak dinner…

I haven't since my early 20s. After that era, it was others that would initiate the "celebrating", dragging me into it for their own enjoyment and amusement. The fact that it happened to be my birthday was just the excuse for them to party.

I put an end to it about two decades ago. Nowadays the wife and I might go out for a nice dinner around the day, but my birthday is generally just a pretty chill day off for me.

Steak with the person you love? Sounds awesome to me. Celebration maybe not the best word. How about excuse?

First: Happy birthday. mine was the 16th, I got home from work/church and got to relax while everyone else went out for the day and made dinner for when they came back. Thats a normal day and the way I like it. I did enjoy some bourbon so it was all good

Not me. I treat it as just another day. I don't mind being made a fuss over, however.

I could NOT care less . My wife and I have birthdays four days apart we don't do anything special . The kids and grandkids come over and after a houseful like that I've had more than enough excitement .

I have not since I was 30.

It’s a day I don’t remember at all.

However a smart guy told me I should because a lot of my contemporaries aren’t getting a chance to be old.
