I Deal In Lead |
Been in this house 16 years and it was painted just before we moved in. Still looks perfect to me.

I've lived in my current domicile for 37 years and have repainted the inside only once, principally because I was tired of the colors. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Maybe get shorter candles?

No. You need better candles. Cheap candles spew all kinds of toxins. Only use 100% beeswax candles indoors. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

I’m on 21 years, only repainted a couple rooms after Sheetrock work. Every few years? No way. Don’t you realize the room gets smaller every time you repaint? The house I grew up in is 50 years old. Again, only repainted after Sheetrock work. Most rooms, never.

When it needs it. Colors faded? Corners worn? That kind of stuff. I would say paint ought to last for ten to fifteen years, as a baseline. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Bought a 4-year old house in 2019 and the builders used the crappiest chalkiest matte finish beige paint in every room and even on the damn ceilings!!! Paying a guy to gradually redo it on his schedule, the whole house including ceilings to be white. I hope it lasts 10 years... I started painting my living room in 2001. Still not finished. (I would have said still not 1/4 of the way done but I don't want to sound like a slacker.) _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

I live in a house that was built in 1793. There are a few places that I suspect are original (and all speculation, but I suspect kept that way on purpose or at least preserved from very long ago). In my lifetime the house had a major remodel in 1956 and there are major sections (primarily ceilings) that are original to that era. Paint when you want a change or it fails. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

Ours was built/painted in 2003, and not since. So my answer would once every >18 years. When in doubt, mumble

Moved in 20 years ago, painted then. I don't ever plan on painting again. I can't think of many endeavors more wasteful of time or money. "The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people." "Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy." "I did," said Ford, "it is." "So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?" "It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want." "You mean they actually vote for the lizards." "Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course." "But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?" "Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."
