Separately, curved monitors are mostly a personal preference thing. I feel they don’t make much sense on anything 20” or smaller, and even on bigger monitors I don’t personally find them to be a noticeable improvement. I wouldn’t pay more money for one myself, but they don’t bother me either so I wouldn’t refuse to buy one if it was a better deal than a flat screen with the same specs.

^^^^^^^^^^^
Thanks. My daughter said the same. A couple of paralegals said it was easier on their eyes. Now clearly going with flat screen.

Will be making my choice shortly. This site is much better than asking at the bus stop or Consumer Reports since there are people here who know much more than I do about computers. Appreciate it.

I purchased the computer based on suggestions you gave me and now have a BIGGER problem. I explained I needed a data transfer and ALL the programs to be moved over. They were prepared to do a printer install only. I cancelled the installation. I like the product but need to know where to start to find someone to perform the task. I assume that this is rather routine, so I need help with that end. I need to hire somebody to do the install. Where do I start?? I need to have someone come to my office and perform the task. I will ask the Office Depot manager who worked with me on the purchase for leads. For me the big deal is the install.

You can only transfer the data, you must install (or reinstall) the programs.
You will need the software to do this (and any license/cd key if applicable).
Who an do it you can't or don't want to?
Any computer store should have no problem with this.
YMMV

The programs are not proprietary. It is free software basically provided for claims filing by insurance companies. There are only two or so. The last transfer the guy took care of the transfer of programs as well, without using a CD or program key. That is why I was confused. I understand what you are saying. Best Buy did the last one, and they sent the guy who does the difficult stuff. He was the only guy over 40 in the store.
I do not have the skill set to do this myself. It is as simple as that. My Verbal IQ is about 140, my Performance IQ is below Average. That is the issue in a nutshell.

Thanks though for taking the time to get back with me. I appreciate the help. I will call the Mom and Pop shops. I am relieved that the solution is simple as it seemed complex to me.

I can do that for you. I can give you a quote for the job plus travel and lodging expenses.

You can sleep at my place. Bring your wife with you we share more than you know. You could land the Vtail in my office parking lot. LOL

As an added bonus you can shoot all my guns and give me expert instruction on the new Colt AR and the M and P 15-22. I will even let you shoot my brand new never fired Legion. Ammo is free and I will not have to move the cases of ammo out of my computer office, because you are OK with guns. We could hang out at the local casino as well. Sig Monkey might be a more affordable option because he seems to reside in the Florida Panhandle where Rhino apparently resides.

Above offer stands for any SIg forum member who wishes to complete this simple task, that is too daunting for me.

Above offer has expired after Vtail made too many demands about food and stuff.

Get a business grade desktop like a Dell Optiplex or Vostro.

Get something in either a slim tower or mid tower format. You want something with plenty of space to move air across your cpu, ram sticks and ssd.

Get something with lots of ram, like 16gb or more, an SSD, and set aside money for a external USB drive for backups.

Get two monitors. For productivity, two or more monitors is better than one large one. I've done both. Multi monitor is the way to go.

Do you have a lot of experience with them? We have probably close to 10 thousand of them in use at work (out of 20+ thousand PC's) and they do just fine. Easy for the techs to move around (no separate monitor and computer case), super easy to work on - and they're all under warranty so HP will fix it if breaks.

I like Sigs and HK's, and maybe Glocks

Sure, but if you have to open them up then that is where the nightmare begins.

I generally don't recommend AIO for everyday use but they can have a purpose if the use is not too hard or you need space or better physical appearance such as a receptionist.
Also the industrial versions for point-of-sale are great but that's not what we are talking about here.

No. I don't have a lot of experience with AIO computers. No company that I've worked for uses them extensively (other than receptionist desks, point of sale, guest terminals, etc.), and I would never personally consider one for myself. Have I helped a few people out with their personal computers? Yeah.

You've clearly not worked on an AIO however. They are not "easy to work on". They are not designed to be opened frequently. Moreover, you have tied the screen life to the much shorter lifecycle of the computer. Does that work for your business? Maybe. But maybe a company with 20k+ computers has different priorities than a guy who needs 1 computer, and can barely use it at that.

To be clear, my position is that all computers consist of a bunch of compromises. An AIO compromises thermal efficiency and performance for a small form factor. Can an AIO be used in business? Of course. Is it optimal? Maybe, if you need a sleek look and form factor. Can cheaper computers be had with the same capabilities? Also yes.

In response to you saying "bring your own salty lox", the V-Tail is saying "Man, you are such a deal killer."

In likely a sarcastic tone.

I have bought the last several computers from the Lenovo factory outlet. They are made for business users and don't come preloaded with ann the bloatware and games.
I've found some really good deals on overruns from large contracts with lots of RAM and larger hard drives and quicker processors that I would have bought otherwise.
Specific models are going to depend on your particular needs and wants.

Dragging myself back to the store as they cannot back out the services promised without the physical card. I am tempted to drag all the computer stuff back, but since this is small town USA I will try and be nice.

I left a message with Josh at a local computer shop. At least they have Voice mail set up. I am betting he can do the job because most people by that name grew up with computers. I will post back after further adventures.

Thanks all

How many years does your company use them?
