There will be no shortage of "crap news".
My hat's off to those who sift through the garbage and report the facts as they unfold.
I cannot stomach the media and their phony "compassionate" tone, and all the rest of it.
So, I will be getting the story here.

10X-ShooterThis piece of shit had been planning this out for awhile. Talk about premeditation. Good God.

HK AgTower shooter
It struck me watching TV coverage that it has been some time since this term was used.
The TV folks were struggling for the right term to use ".. George, was this domestic terrorism?, a "lone shooter", etc. ..." but I think the correct term for this breed of crazy is "Tower Shooter".
The details show that this crazy planned his tower shooting. He didn't snap, he was just overcome with evil and went full on tower shooter.
When they perform the autopsy on this loser I wonder if they will find a brain tumor?

RightwireI caught part of a live stream report. One of the 'experts' seemed to believe the police were able to locate the shooter quickly because the gunfire set off the smoke detector in the room and thus identifying exactly where he was located. If that is true... Brilliant use of available Intel!

This is my question too.
According to statements made by LE officials at one of the press conferences this morning, he had at least 8 guns and had been staying in that hotel room since Thursday.
4 days is plenty of time to bring in eight firearms, hidden in various bits of luggage, possibly spread out over more than one trip. Even if all eight were full-size belt-fed MGs, he could have easily brought them in one at a time in a suitcase or duffel bag, making just two trips per day over 4 days. And if there was only one or two MGs plus various other rifles and handguns, he easily could have gotten them all in one trip, packed in just one or two bags.
One of many thousands of tourists going up to a hotel room with a piece or two of luggage isn't suspicious. It's not like he must have strolled through the casino openly carrying multiple MGs.
This scenario occurred to me as well, but I thought the video surveillance was tight out there and a guy carrying in more suitcases every day might raise questions. I have to assume he just didn't stand out

RogueJSKShooter was 64-year-old Stephen Craig Paddock. Owned a $400k home in a retirement village ~80 miles east of Las Vegas, on the Arizona/Nevada border. Licensed pilot. Former Lockheed-Martin employee. No criminal record.
Committed suicide when police breached his hotel room.
Girlfriend was located out of the country. She's being interviewed, but at this time is not believed to have any involvement in or knowledge of the planned attack.

stoic-oneTerrible tragedy!
I don't understand why anyone thinks it would be hard to get stuff in to the hotel, I drag TWO of these around when I'm checking into hotels and no one bats an eye. 5.11 Tactical Mission Ready 2.0 Rolling Bag...

Balzé HalzéI'm seeing two broken windows. Did he have two gun platforms setup for multiple lines of fire? Sick bastard.
It feels like there won't be much closure for the victims here. This guy just sounds like a psychopath. Just senseless to the extreme.

JALLENLooking at the Strip, the layout of these hotels, where do you put a stage and ~30,000 people in open air?
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown October 02, 2017, 09:22 AM

Yep. Trade show booth cases are about the size of a large golf bad hard case. I've rolled right through the lobby / casino floor up to my hotel room in dozens upon dozens of different hotels in my career with these type cases and never been given as much as a glance. Vegas, Disney, Chicago, etc. etc. Hell, the bellmen will tote up there for you for a $20 without questioning a thing.

BigboreshooterJust heard on the radio: AP is now reporting that ISIS is taking credit for the shooting. ISIS claims the shooter converted to Islam several months ago.

2AdefenderThis is just terrible news. This guy must have been insane to do something like this. I am not even going to watch the televised media coverage, I know what they are going to say.
Very sad that innocent people were killed and injured.

The site was a vacant lot catty corner from Mandalay Bay and across Las Vegas Blvd from the Luxor. It had been under consideration for the new football stadium but deemed too close to the airport. So the shooter was shooting from the Manadalay Bay, across the strip and into the concert site.

this is a picture taken of me walking into a hotel in the center of Raleigh North Carolina in April, I had a 50BMG, a dozen pistols, a dozen AR style guns, suppressors, etc. It's not like the cases are discrete, and nobody said a word (other than to complement me on how nice the cases were)

justjoe"He snapped" doesn't cut it for me. Like, he was fine a couple of weeks ago, then he started putting together full auto weapons systems....
If ISIS was involved, watch the "media" dance an spin-- it will make you dizzy.
Whatever-- there is more to this story than that some 64 year old white guy "snapped."

There's an open lot across the street on LV Blvd from Luxor and just south of the Tropicana. It's a small rectangular space that butts up against LV Blvd and the fence line of the private plane area of McCarran airport. The shooter was set-up in the hotel, shooting across LV Blvd down into this open lot.
